Babylon
Whore of Babylon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Pillars of putrid meat
Standing so tall among my
Icons of filth
With gargoyle eyes
I see
The Christ he's smiling at me
His phosphorous grin
And in this room
The walls covered with flies
I'm seen through their myriad eyes
The alien eyes
I'm seen somewhere else
Seen through the windows of Hell
Few million light years from home
I am searching for a different kind of
Insanity
The Babylon astronaut
Could you leave it all behind?
(There is no evil)
I see the stars painted on the window's glass
Seven planets supporting the nothingness
And I am happy
Nothing more nothing less
(There is no evil)
Something came to my room
As flies on the ceiling
Coming down on me
One by one
And their hairy limbs
Crawling on my naked skin
The motherfuckers screwing on me
Insect sex
No
I won't move
As my ears are laden with eggs
Close my eyes
And dream of being back in the womb
"Under the juniper trees
Talking cats and silver boots filled with
Blood"
Could you leave it all behind?
Under another sun I'll grow saturnine
Lay siege to heaven in fever dreams
And I smash my head
Into the window's glass
And see the stars coming down at last
The song "Babylon" by Whore of Babylon is an intense and graphic portrayal of a person's descent into madness and self-destructive behavior. The lyrics describe a character who is surrounded by symbols of filth and decay, with walls covered in flies and pillars made of rotting flesh. Despite this, the character seems to find some comfort in their bizarre surroundings, as they see the image of Christ smiling at them with a "phosphorous grin". This presence is described as an "absolution for all my sins", suggesting that the character may be seeking redemption or release from their tortured state of mind.
As the song progresses, the character's mental state deteriorates further, with the introduction of insect imagery and sexual themes. Flies crawl over the walls and ceiling of the room, eventually landing on the character's naked body and engaging in insect sex. The character seems to be paralyzed by this experience, describing their ears as "laden with eggs" and yearning to retreat back into the safety of the womb. The lyrics also reference a dream, where the character imagines themselves in a surreal world filled with talking cats and silver boots filled with blood.

@Fr. William Nicholas Beloved, let's read Rev 18:21
Then a mighty angel picked up a Boulder as large as a great millstone. He threw it into the ocean and shouted, Babylon, the great city, will be thrown down as violently as I have thrown this stone, AND SHE WILL DISAPPEAR FOREVER.
Question: if Babylon was the ancient capital of Roman Empire, why does the city of Rome still exist today?
If you pay close attention to the last part of Revelation 18:21, it says: AND SHE WILL DISAPPEAR FOREVER, and ROME still exists today.
That means ROME would be NO more, but today, we still have" the city of the seven hills" ROME, And also called by some people, " The eternal City"
If THE LORD says that one city will disappear, that city will disappear, ROME WILL DISAPPEAR IN THE FUTURE, it is written.
This prophecy will be fullfilled in the future because it is written in Rev 18, NOT MY OWN PROPHECIES, BUT WHAT GOD REVEALED TO JOHN THE APOSTLE.
Please think about this.
You are loved in the love of CHRIST.

This shed a lot of light for me. Growing up being told that Roman Catholicism (the Pope and Rome) was the Whore pf Babylon and was evil (which doesn’t ever make a whole lot of historical sense), I was nervous about becoming Catholic. Thank you❤
Lord Jared
out of curiosity, what would you guys do when hypothetically your pope is filled with Satan?
Fr. William Nicholas
@Lord Jared Since the Catholic Church is not a "Papal" Church, but an "Apostolic" one, it does not hinge only on the integrity of the Pope alone. If the Pope goes astray, there are many other apostolic leaders, the bishops, who oversee their individual churches throughout the world and act as one college exercising apostolic authority under the unifying leadership of the Pope. They also can and do regularly call the Pope to task, as did St. Paul to Peter (even Jesus said to Peter, "get out of my sight you Satan"). The Pope is not a benevolent dictator with absolute power. Even if he is the highest authority in the Church (after Jesus, of course) he does not exercise that authority in a vacuum. The Pope is nothing without the other bishops, and vice versa. When you think about it, it is actually quite ingenious how Jesus set it all up under Peter and the Apostles (and their successors) to pretty much guarantee that the Church will never fully stray, even if individuals within it might. If it can survive Judas going astray, it can pretty much survive anyone going astray.
