The four boys of Wild Beasts aren’t concerned with being of the modern or being of the renaissance, being baggy pantsed or being tight pantsed, being in a scene or being in a place. Wild Beasts’ music just is.
On 25 September 2017, the band announced that they were disbanding, playing their final gig on 17 February 2018.
Invisible
Wild Beasts Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I see them on their knees
Crawling across The floor
You kill them all
I tied it up
The gaping whole
Into a drawer full
You have walked through my dreams
And I want you to see this
Open the door
Open the door
You're standing at the moor
Things vanish one by one
Invisible, invisible, invisible
Watch them go
All's come afoot
I say my goodbyes
To everyone I know
Goodbye, goodbye
I burn up my lists
They cease to exist
Leave nothing behind
The things I thought I'd want
They vanish one by one
Invisible, invisible, invisible
You have walked through my dreams
And I want you to see this
Invisible, invisible, invisible
Your lips to my lips
I cease to exist
The lyrics of Wild Beasts's song Invisible are an enigmatic portrayal of the fickle nature of life, relationships and human emotions. The song starts with a display of power and dominance over the enemies, who are crawling on their knees before being killed. The singer is in a position of superiority, but as the song progresses, it becomes apparent that they are also vulnerable in their emotional life as they clumsily try to tie up the "gaping hole" and keep things hidden in a drawer.
The chorus "You have walked through my dreams and I want you to see this. Open the door, open the door" suggests that there is someone who the singer wants to let into their world, a significant other, perhaps, or a close friend. However, they are facing the obstacle of the unknown and the unpredictable. The sense of disappearance and invisibility runs throughout the lyrics, with things and people vanishing one by one. The singer also acknowledges that they themselves may cease to exist as well.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of longing, insecurity, and a yearning for something or someone that may be out of reach. The juxtaposition of the themes of power and vulnerability, appearance and disappearance, creates a nuanced and complex portrait of human emotions that is deeply relatable.

Can't get over how much Tom Fleming's voice sounds like Guy Garvey's of Elbow in this song!! Particularly when he sings the word "Invisible". Incredible!
