The four boys of Wild Beasts aren’t concerned with being of the modern or being of the renaissance, being baggy pantsed or being tight pantsed, being in a scene or being in a place. Wild Beasts’ music just is.
On 25 September 2017, the band announced that they were disbanding, playing their final gig on 17 February 2018.
Lion's Share
Wild Beasts Lyrics

Creature of the deep
Waifish as a widow
And without sufficient sleep
Oh what am I supposed to think
Do I pull you out
Or do I let you sink
I won't know until your limp
I take you in the mouth
Like a lion takes his game
I love you all the more
Forever we thought
But how it got within me
How I cracked the vault
'cause it's a terrible scare
But that's why the dark is there
See you don't have to see what you can't bear
The lion's share
Lion's share
I took the lion's share
Not 'cause I didn't care
Just 'cause I knew it was there
Oh oh oh oh
Lion's share
I took the lion's share
Not 'cause I didn't care
Just 'cause I knew it was there
Boy-oy-oy-oy whatcha running from
Boy-oy-oy-oy
Boy-oy-oy-oy whatcha running from
Boy-oy-oy-oy
'cause it's a terrible scare
But that's why the dark is there
See you don't have to see what you can't bear
The lion's share
Boy-oy-oy-oy whatcha running from
Boy-oy-oy-oy
Boy-oy-oy-oy whatcha running from
Boy-oy-oy-oy
'cause it's a terrible scare
But that's why the dark is there
See you don't have to see what you can't bear
The lion's share
The lyrics of Wild Beasts' song Lion's Share describe two intertwined themes - a relationship between two individuals and an inner struggle of one person. The first verse refers to a person who is hidden in the "mirrorville" and describes this individual's appearance as a "waifish widow" who seems to have not had enough sleep. The singer is conflicted as to whether he should help this person or let them go. The second verse is where the inner turmoil of the singer gets revealed. He waits until the other person is "woozy," and then "takes [them] in the mouth like a lion takes his game." In the chorus, the singer admits that he took the "lion's share," not because he doesn't care, but he knew it was there. The song's bridge repeats the same lyrics while questioning the reason for the individual's escape and then ends with reiterating the chorus.
