The four boys of Wild Beasts aren’t concerned with being of the modern or being of the renaissance, being baggy pantsed or being tight pantsed, being in a scene or being in a place. Wild Beasts’ music just is.

Wild Beasts Lyrics

Your hands are curling up like floating leaves
You who shall deserve
You who shall deserve
O, unpluckable flower of the moon!
O, untetherable bird of the blue!
You who shall deserve
Deserters!
Deserters!
Deserters!
Deserters!
The neighbours cup their ears to the walls
Two hearts
No more
The lyrics of Wild Beasts's song Two Dancers is a poetic expression of desire and longing. The singer appears to be asking their lover if they want their heart between their teeth, indicating a willingness to be vulnerable and exposed. The imagery of floating leaves that curl up in the lover's hands suggests a delicate and fleeting nature of the relationship. The repetition of the line "You who shall deserve" emphasizes the need to earn affection and the singer's belief that their lover is worthy of it.
The second stanza contains even more vivid imagery, describing their lover as an "unpluckable flower of the moon" and "untetherable bird of the blue." These metaphors paint the lover as something unattainable and otherworldly, further elevating their worthiness. The four repetitions of "Deserters" could be interpreted as the singer addressing themselves and their lover, fighting against the possibility of giving up on each other. The final two lines, "The neighbours cup their ears to the walls / Two hearts / No more," could suggest their love affair is a secret one that's coming to an end.
Overall, the lyrics of Two Dancers possess a poetic and dreamlike quality, touching upon themes of love, yearning, and desire while combining nature and surrealism to create enchanting imagery.
