Wild Belle are an American indie rock band, composed of siblings Elliot and Natalie Bergman, who grew up in and around Chicago. They appeared on Conan on November 26, 2012. Their debut album, Isles, was released by Columbia Records on March 12, 2013. They have released three songs from the album: "Keep You" in February, "Backslider", and "It's Too Late".
Elliot and Natalie Bergman are two of four children born to musician parents, who brought them up in a house full of music. Elliot, the older sibling, is a multi-instrumentalist studied at the University of Michigan where he started an Afrobeat band called Nomo. His younger sister, Natalie, started performing with Nomo, playing tambourine and singing backing vocals when she was sixteen. Elliott and Natalie decided to branch off with their own project and chose the name, Wild Belle. Wild Belles's debut album, entitled Isles, was released on March 12th of 2013 on iTunes and Amazon digital download, as well as released in stores in online in physical format. Natalie and Elliot Bergman named their album Isles, due to every track resembling its own island, drawing in influences from reggae, soul, and jazz music. Wild Belle has gained recognition through touring with Toro y Moi in the past. Wild Belle will continue with their touring kick by appearing at music festivals across the United States, including Lollapalooza, Coachella, Forecastle Festival, and others.

I don't see you like I used to
It was a thievery of my eye
So long
You keep chasing like a rooster
Everything you lay eyes on
So I fleeI fly
I don't have no choice
I would rather
I would rather die
Than live with you in this life
Than live with you in this life
Cause you're just a backslider every single day
Backsliding like a chain
You're just a capturer on a lonely chase
Backslide into your grave
My babe
Guess he could stand a little cheatin'
Because his heart is made of stone
And now
I ain't got tears to cry, I'm leavin'
Even in your arms I'm alone
You go back to your old flame
And she'll love you once again
I'm just a blockade at this game
Your lips are lies
And your eyes the same
You're just a backslider every single day
You're just a capturer on a lonely chase
Backslide into your grave
You're just a backslider every single day
Backsliding like a chain
You're just a capturer on a lonely chase
Backslide into your grave
Wild Belle's song "Backslider" is a tale of heartbreak and betrayal. The song describes a relationship where the singer is constantly chasing after her partner, who seems to be interested in everything but her. The singer is tired of being with someone who is always looking for the next best thing and is willing to leave him, even if it means death. The lyrics depict the partner as a backslider - someone who is constantly regressing and going back to their old ways.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's frustration with her partner. She calls him a backslider, comparing his behavior to a chain that drags him down. She also accuses him of being a capturer, always on the lookout for something new and exciting, even if it means leaving her behind. The lyrics suggest that this behavior will ultimately lead him to his own grave, a metaphor for his eventual downfall.
Additionally, the second verse of the song reveals that the singer's partner has cheated on her. She implies that she knows about it but chooses to leave him anyway because she is tired of feeling alone even when she is in his arms. The singer urges her partner to go back to his old flame, who will love him and accept him despite his flaws. Meanwhile, the singer acknowledges that she has become nothing more than a blockade in their relationship, and his lips and eyes are full of lies.
Ultimately, "Backslider" is a powerful song about the pain and betrayal of love. The singer is at her breaking point, exhausted by her partner's constant backsliding and searching for something new. The song combines catchy melodies with insightful lyrics to create an emotional and unforgettable experience.
