Wild Child
Wild Child Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I really don't follow the rules
I'm really not here to make you smile
I just wanna do,just what that I want to
Without fools at my side

But I had learned a lesson
You can't stop running forward
Doesn't matter where you came from
Or what the fuck is said about you

(Wild Child) Wild Child
I have anger in my eyes
(Wild Child) Wild Child
No one will disturb my life
(Wild Child) Wild Child
I'll not give you one more try
(Wild Child) Wild Child
And I'll keep on running wild

I am about to pull that trigger
I am about to make you burn
Cause I don't care,
And I have nothing to lose
With all the fools on my way

Chorus (1x)

Running wild, running wild
Running wild

"There are certain things
About life you gotta know
People will step on you
People will hurt you
And If you don't believe yourself,
Nothing is gonna happen"

Chorus (1x)

Running wild, running wild
Running wild, running wild

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Wild Child's self-titled song, Wild Child, are a declaration of independence and a rejection of societal rules and expectations. The artist asserts that they are not concerned with pleasing others, but instead want the freedom to pursue their desires without interference. The line "I just wanna do, just what that I want to" encapsulates this sentiment and suggests that the artist is motivated by personal fulfillment rather than external validation. The chorus, repeated multiple times throughout the song, emphasizes the artist's determination to live life on their own terms and resist any attempts to control or limit them.

The second verse of the song takes a more aggressive turn, with the artist expressing a willingness to use violence against those they perceive as obstacles or threats. The phrase "I am about to pull that trigger / I am about to make you burn" conjures up images of retribution and revenge, and reinforces the message that the artist is not to be trifled with. However, this aggression is not random or baseless; rather, it is driven by a sense of self-assurance and a refusal to be victimized. As the spoken-word interlude asserts, "If you don't believe yourself, / Nothing is gonna happen". The artist's wildness is therefore grounded in a strong sense of self-confidence and a refusal to be cowed by external pressures or opinions.

Lyrics:
I'm just a stranger
With a twisted smile and I'm wondering, ah
Your heart is in danger
Come close now, let me tell you a lie

Wild child
You got me running through the turnstile
Baby, come with and I'll make it worthwhile
You're gonna get my love today, yeah

You are a sweet dream
With a tender heart and beautiful smile
But things aren't what they seem
So I'll let you go and dream for a while

Wild child
You got me coming outta exile
Baby-girl you know I'm liking your style
You're gonna get my love today, yeah

I just wanna hold you at the end of every day
Girl, I wanna please you, oh, I'm needing you to stay
The sun is gonna shine if you would just come out and play
Baby, won't you show me your wild child ways

Wild child
You got me running through the turnstile
Baby, come with and I'll make it worthwhile
You're gonna get my love today, yeah

Wild child
You got me coming outta exile
Baby-girl you know I'm liking your style
You're gonna get my love today, yeah

@Rich — AAAAAAAHHH, I love those bands, so much; though, The Black Keys are my favorite rock n’ roll band, for sure.

You might dig Corey Taylor, of Slipknot’s new album — CMFB-Sides. I’ve had it on repeat, all week.

You might dig Dead Sara — Emily Armstrong voice is amazing; one of my biggest inspirations; I use to see ‘em play, all over Hollywood.

The Menzingers are good — check out “When You Died,” on their “Rented World” album. It’s got a Bob Dylan-feel. I’m close with the ghost-writer of it, in fact.

OH!!!

DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY check out The Gaslight Anthem, as well as their lead singer’s solo work — Brian Fallon.

EASILY one of my favorite bands — their album ‘Get Hurt,’ is one of my top favorites; though, everything they do is freakin’ great.

Oh, lastly.. Royal Blood is great, also. A duo, along the lines of Black Pistol, The Blue Stones, etc. — they even got a bit of an electronic feel, in their lost recent album.

I think you’ll really dig ‘em.

Warmest regards and happy listening!
