The Ceiling
Wild Feathers Lyrics

Seen a drawer full of pills
And it's quiet like snow through the trees
Well I did what I did and I didn't mean anything
Where you come from and where you go
Who you talk to and who you know
And you're lying in fields of green
The sun rise, the drive, the morning
The smoke stacks, the bold hats, still learning
And I don't know how I got this far down with the ceiling
And I don't know how I got this far down with the ceiling
Oh, her eyes are wide open right out of her head
Yeah, she's clear of a crown that she cut down for me
Well, I did what I did and I'd do it all over again
I remember everything
Little girl learning to sing because she's crying all over me
But I did what I did and I didn't mean anything
The sun rise, the drive, the morning
The smoke stacks, the bold hats, still learning
And I don't know how I got this far down with the ceiling
And I don't know how I got this far down with the ceiling
Oh, her eyes are wide open right out of her head
Yeah, she's clear of a crown that she cut down for me
Well, I did what I did and I'd do it all over again
We, we should be easy
We should be easy
We should be
We, we should be easy
We should be easy
We should be
We, we should be easy
We should be easy
We should be
We, we should be easy
We should be easy
We should be
We, we should be easy
We should be easy
We should be
Sometime, oh yeah
A little bit sometime.
The lyrics to the Wild Feather's song "The Ceiling" are open to interpretation, as they seem to reference a range of different emotions and experiences. The opening lines suggest a sense of isolation or disconnection, with the singer observing a fire burning up on a hill and a drawer full of pills. The quietness of the scene is contrasted with the chaos and uncertainty of the singer's actions, as they acknowledge that they did something without any clear intention or justification.
As the song continues, the focus shifts to questions of identity and belonging. The singer ponders where they come from and where they're going, and considers the significance of the people they talk to and the ones they know. These musings are accompanied by a sense of resignation or acceptance, as the singer recognizes that they're "lying in fields of green" - a tranquil but uninspiring place to be.
Towards the end of the song, the lyrics become more introspective, with the singer reflecting on their memories and experiences. There are hints of regret and sorrow ("little girl learning to sing because she's crying all over me"), but also a sense of determination or resilience - the singer would "do it all over again".

They are based in Nashville but
A Nashville band, with roots in Texas and Oklahoma, The Wild Feathers like to explore the harmonic landscape of Southern rock to personify a very simple idea that has been on a sharp decline since the ’70s: an American band.
Absolutely love them!❤️💯💯

Saw them a few years ago at Coachella, I stood there wondering why are they on the small stage?!?! Wild Feathers was the best band I saw that weekend. I can’t wait to see them again.

They were the warm band for the Bob Dylan concert that I went to. They were absolutely amazing. Best warm act I have ever seen. The audience arose and gave them a standing ovation for 5 minutes.
