What would it look like if it was written by Edward de Vere, a love letter to his son, who was love child of de Vere and the queen... But it was written 100 years later, a ghost to a ghost...

GPT came up with this:
My son, my flesh and blood, distanced by a web of secrets and lies,
It was a constant struggle to exist outside your life,
When the world shunned me and my hidden cries,
Reached only the indifferent skies,
I longed to be a better man, less ensnared by strife,
To be a father to you, not just in name but in presence,
To offer you wisdom, love, and an expanded view of life.

When weighed down by these burdens, almost consumed by my own despair,
I would think of you, your face, your latent potential,
And just as the morning lark takes to the sky, leaving behind the earthly layer,
My soul would ascend, shedding the weight of the unbearable.
Your existence, the very thought of you, gave me wealth beyond material,
So much so that the trappings of kingship seemed trivial, almost immaterial.

Here is the "easier version" of the sonnet:

โ€œWhen I feel unlucky and humiliated in the eyes of others, / I sit by myself and cry over my lonely situation, / And I disturb the unhearing sky with my useless cries, / And feel sorry for myself and curse my bad luckโ€ฆ.โ€โ€œWishing that I had more hopes for the future, / That I was as handsome as this person, or had as many friends as that person, / Wanting this personโ€™s artistic skill and that personโ€™s range of abilities, / Feeling unhappy with what I normally enjoyโ€ฆ.โ€โ€œYet when I have hateful thoughts about myself / I may by chance think about you, and my attitude / (Like a lark at dawn taking off / From the gloomy earth) sings songs at the gate of heaven.โ€โ€œFor remembering your affection makes me feel so rich, / That I would not change places with a king.โ€ So, the solution offered in this rhyming couplet is that thoughts of the speakerโ€™s beloved are enough to lift the speakerโ€™s spirits and make him feel like the luckiest person alive.โ€œ

Thank you for posting. It hoped me understand the poem.

this sonnet is so touching. it almost made my cry when i read it out loud to my mom. i can't believe sheakspeare (sorry if i spelled it wrong) could convey such emotion in just fourteen lines. i had to really think in order to trully understand the meaning, but that's one of the things i love about it. it's an amazing piece, thanks for the video.

Isn't it amazing how Shakespeare can touch our heart over so many years? He really understood people. Thank you so much for writing to us, Elise! :)

My uncle Sean by marriage to my aunt is this person in the sonnet. Such a beautiful person.

For thy sweet love remembered, such wealth brings

That then I acorn to change my state with kings.

Stellas

Donโ€™t worry about the spelling
He could never get it right either
