He wrote approximately 38 plays and 154 sonnets, as well as a variety of other poems. Already a popular writer in his own lifetime, Shakespeare became increasingly celebrated after his death and his work adulated by numerous prominent cultural figures through the centuries.[4] He is often considered to be England's national poet[5] and is sometimes referred to as the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "The Bard") or the "Swan of Avon".
Orthodox scholars believe Shakespeare produced most of his work between 1586 and 1612, although the exact dates and chronology of the plays attributed to him are under considerable debate, as is the authorship of the works attributed to him. He is counted among the very few playwrights who have excelled in both tragedy and comedy, and his plays combine popular appeal with complex characterisation, poetic grandeur and philosophical depth.

What would it look like if it was written by Edward de Vere, a love letter to his son, who was love child of de Vere and the queen... But it was written 100 years later, a ghost to a ghost...
GPT came up with this:
My son, my flesh and blood, distanced by a web of secrets and lies,
It was a constant struggle to exist outside your life,
When the world shunned me and my hidden cries,
Reached only the indifferent skies,
I longed to be a better man, less ensnared by strife,
To be a father to you, not just in name but in presence,
To offer you wisdom, love, and an expanded view of life.
When weighed down by these burdens, almost consumed by my own despair,
I would think of you, your face, your latent potential,
And just as the morning lark takes to the sky, leaving behind the earthly layer,
My soul would ascend, shedding the weight of the unbearable.
Your existence, the very thought of you, gave me wealth beyond material,
So much so that the trappings of kingship seemed trivial, almost immaterial.

Here is the "easier version" of the sonnet:
โWhen I feel unlucky and humiliated in the eyes of others, / I sit by myself and cry over my lonely situation, / And I disturb the unhearing sky with my useless cries, / And feel sorry for myself and curse my bad luckโฆ.โโWishing that I had more hopes for the future, / That I was as handsome as this person, or had as many friends as that person, / Wanting this personโs artistic skill and that personโs range of abilities, / Feeling unhappy with what I normally enjoyโฆ.โโYet when I have hateful thoughts about myself / I may by chance think about you, and my attitude / (Like a lark at dawn taking off / From the gloomy earth) sings songs at the gate of heaven.โโFor remembering your affection makes me feel so rich, / That I would not change places with a king.โ So, the solution offered in this rhyming couplet is that thoughts of the speakerโs beloved are enough to lift the speakerโs spirits and make him feel like the luckiest person alive.โ

Thank you for posting. It hoped me understand the poem.

this sonnet is so touching. it almost made my cry when i read it out loud to my mom. i can't believe sheakspeare (sorry if i spelled it wrong) could convey such emotion in just fourteen lines. i had to really think in order to trully understand the meaning, but that's one of the things i love about it. it's an amazing piece, thanks for the video.

Isn't it amazing how Shakespeare can touch our heart over so many years? He really understood people. Thank you so much for writing to us, Elise! :)

My uncle Sean by marriage to my aunt is this person in the sonnet. Such a beautiful person.
For thy sweet love remembered, such wealth brings
That then I acorn to change my state with kings.

Donโt worry about the spelling
He could never get it right either
