Williams Hank Lyrics

Me gotta go, pole the pirogue down the bayou
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou
Jambalaya and a craw fish pie and filé gumbo
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gayo
The Thibodaux's, the fontenot's, the place is buzzin'
Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen
Dress in style and go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou
Jambalaya and a craw fish pie and filé gumbo
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gayo
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou
Jambalaya and a craw fish pie and filé gumbo
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gayo
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou
The song "Jambalaya" by Hank Williams is a lively and upbeat tune that celebrates the fun and festivities of Louisiana's bayou culture. The lyrics tell the story of the singer bidding farewell to his friend Joe and setting off with his sweetheart Yvonne to enjoy a night of food, music, and dancing in the bayou. The chorus of the song features the iconic line "Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filet gumbo," which serves as a call to have a good time and enjoy the delicious local cuisine.
Throughout the song, the singer describes the various sights and sounds of the bayou, from the many friends and family members who have come to party with Yvonne, to the joyful music that can be heard throughout the night. The singer also mentions picking a guitar and filling a fruit jar to "be gayo," which likely refers to the tradition of making and drinking homemade moonshine during parties and celebrations in the bayou.

It's a testament to the joy and sense of community that can be found in this part of the world, and a reminder to enjoy the simple pleasures in life like good food, good music, and good company.

Just would like to ask the 649 people who gave this song a thumbs down , what the heck is wrong with them .
Here is a upbeat song written & sung by the greatest country artist to ever step in the Opry stage bar none - peroid !
Hank is responsible for So much more then he's given credit for .
A much bigger influence on future generations of artist across ALL musical fields .
Moved country music into the mainstream.
If Hank doesn't come along you may not have a Haggard , Jones or Cash.
Simply put the greatest country artist of all time and it's NOT even close .
Hank Sr & Jr - The Williams family have done more for country music then any other family , and it's time for Hank to be welcomed back to the Opry and it's sure as hell time for Hank Jr to take his place in the Country Music hall of fame next to the King of Country Music Hank Williams Sr.
It's way past time for both of these things to take place .

My parents both have Alzheimer's. They came over for dinner this afternoon, and my Mom started singing this song out of the blue. I'd never heard it before--want even sure it was a real song. So I searched on YouTube, and here we are, all listening to the full song together. Thanks so much for posting this.
@Wingnut353
My grandpa has sung this all his life, and my aunt thought he had made it up... untill she heard someone sing it professionally and she exclaimed they are singing daddy's song! He shouts Jambalaya Crawfish pie extra loud :D

My aunt used to sing this time in the 50's

My dad is from Louisiana and he used to sing this whenever he was cooking in the kitchen. I never thought to look it up until a Facebook post about a food that made you think of someone special. This song came to mind. I cannot imagine both of my parents having Alzheimer's and you and your family being left behind, so to speak. I salute you for remaining by their side through all of it. All I can say is that I believe we all need to spend as much time with our loved ones as we can for we never know when something might take them from us - even a piece at a time.

When I worked as a CNA in the memory Care unit, I noticed that most of the residents could remember songs they knew. If I sang the words wrong, they would quickly correct me, and finish the song.

This is real country music. Country music today isn't even country. It's just rap or pop music with country lyrics.
