Weak Brain Narrow Mind
Willie Dixon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The world gonna leave you way behind
Your friends will deceive you, leave you cryin'
Can't keep yours 'cause you are watchin' mine
If you got a strong brain and your mind is broad
You gonna have more friends than a train can hold
You won't have no trouble or worries at all
You know the strong overpower the weak
And the smart overpower the strong
The clever are the only ones enjoyin' the world
While the greedy save all and enjoy none
If you got a strong brain and your mind is smart
Nothin' in the world is gonna be too hard
We gonna keep on goin' before others start
If you got a strong brain and your mind is smart
Willie Dixon's song "Weak Brain Narrow Mind" talks about the importance of having a broad mind and a strong brain. The first verse warns the listener that if they have a weak brain and a narrow mind, they will be left behind by the world, their friends will deceive them and they won't be able to keep what they have. On the other hand, if the listener has a strong brain and a broad mind, they will have more friends than they can count, won't have any troubles or worries, and they will be able to achieve anything that they desire.
The second verse emphasizes the idea that the strong overpower the weak, the smart overpower the strong, while the clever ones are the only ones enjoying the world. The greedy, however, save all, but enjoy none. The lyrics suggest that if the listener has a strong, smart brain, nothing in the world will be too hard for them, they will continue to succeed before others start.
In summary, "Weak Brain Narrow Mind" highlights the importance of having a strong, smart brain and a broad mind to overcome life's challenges, and that only those who are clever can truly enjoy and succeed in the world.

When I was in school, I'd go see him whenever I could in Chicago at various blues clubs. Always mesmerizing. I once got up the courage during a break to introduce myself to him & tell him he was the greatest bluesman of all. He took my hand, kissed it and said, "thank you, little lady." I floated out of the club that night on a cloud of joy.
