Heartaches By The Number
Willie Nelson / Merle Haggard / Ray Price Lyrics

Heartache number one was when you left me
I never knew that I could hurt this way
And heartache number two was when you came back again
You came back and never meant to stay

Now I've got heartaches by the number
Troubles by the score
Everyday you love me less
Each day I love you more
Yes, I've got heartaches by the number
A love that I can't win
But the day that I stop counting
That's the day my world will end

Heartache number three Was when you called me
And said that you was coming back to stay
With hopeful heart I waited for your knock on the door
I waited but you must have lost your way

Now I've got heartaches by the number
Troubles by the score
Everyday you love me less
Each day I love you more
Yes, I've got heartaches by the number
A love that I can't win

But the day that I stop counting
That's the day my world will end

I first heard this song in Fall Out New Vegas. One thing I love about that game is it brings back great 50's songs that are all but forgotten in my generation that people like Willie here was lucky enough to experience.

I dearly love this song. My Momma always sang this song. That's how brother and I loved music. We were dancing our shoes off at the old Circle R. 😆

there will never be another Hank, Patsy or Willie. Clearly remember hearing " Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" for the first time on the car radio. A Willie fan from that time on. Saw him with Waylon in Adelaide a few years back. what a concert.
