An' just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
The road leads back to you
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
On my mind
The song "Georgia On My Mind" by Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis captures the essence of homesickness and nostalgia. The opening line "Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through" sets the tone for the song, indicating that the singer is constantly thinking of Georgia. The phrase "just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind" suggests that there is a particular song that reminds the singer of Georgia, perhaps a song that was popular at the time of their departure. The repetition of the line "no peace I find" emphasizes the longing the singer feels for Georgia.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the singer has left Georgia behind and is now experiencing new people and places, as suggested by the lines "other arms reach out to me, other eyes smile tenderly." Despite this, the singer still sees Georgia in their dreams and feels a pull to return. The references to "moonlight through the pines" create a sensory experience that enhances the nostalgia and romanticism of the lyrics.
Overall, "Georgia On My Mind" is a powerful expression of homesickness and the emotional pull of one's homeland. It captures the essence of nostalgia and the longing for a place one has left behind.

He'll, I was born and raised in Rural Georgia. If this song does that to you and you're not even from the state, you can imagine the effect it has on me.

I listened to this song many nights as a kid trying to go to sleep. It has always been a calming presence for me. Tonight, it just started playing on my phone that was laying on the counter….all by itself. I needed to hear this tonight. The good Lord blessed us with one of a kind in Willie Nelson. Always my favorite ❤️

I was with you all the way until you inserted your fictional deity. Willie gets the credit, not your imaginary friend.

I don't know who said "Live and Let Live" originally but that's a good one too.
You shouldn't shame someone from something you aren't certain of.
