One In The Spirit
Wilson-McKinley Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Simply because you're near me.
Funny, but when you're near me
I'm in the mood for love.
Heaven is in your eyes
Bright as the stars we're under
Oh! Is it any wonderI'm in the mood for love?
Why stop to think of whether
This little dream might fade?
We've put our hearts together
Now we are one, I'm not afraid!
If there's a cloud above
If it should rain we'll let it
But for tonight, forget it!
I'm in the mood for love
These lyrics of Wilson-McKinley's 1970 song One In The Spirit is a beautiful love song that expresses the singer's love and affection for the person they are with. The song declares the singer's mood for love, which is stimulated simply by the presence of their lover. The lyrics go on to describe how heaven itself seems to be reflected in their lover's eyes, and how the sheer wonder of being with them leaves the singer in the mood for love.
The lyrics express the idea that the singer and their lover have come together and formed an unbreakable bond, and that no matter what trials and tribulations come their way, they are committed to each other. The clouds may come and the rain may fall, but their love will remain steadfast. These lyrics are a testament to the beauty and transformative power of love, and that love really does conquer all.
Overall, One In The Spirit is a beautiful love song that captures the feelings of adoration and unity that come with being in a loving relationship. The lyrics express the joy, wonder, and stability that love brings to our lives, and how it can uplift us even in the darkest of times.

Oh, the sweet memories of the Jesus People hippies, coffee shops in Seattle, street witnessing, bible rap (study) sessions and Wilson McKinley music. Praise God!! It all soured when leaders got on to these big, delusional messianic ego trips, leading many of those young, naive high school and college kids into toxic cults. The Love Israel Family, Children of God, the so-called 'Local' Church as well as the non-Christian Hare Krishnas were but a few of the plethora of groups that came into being by flocks of well-meaning, sincerely believing but naive kids. They were, in reality, still more hippie than Christian, who had replaced L-S-D with G-O-D, but seemed to expect the same euphoric results ("I'm high on Jesus, man!").

Love the praise break right at the end...this is so fresh and raw. I have only just realised how rich and vibrant and VARIED was the christian music of the 60's and 70's, before it became a big commercial circus

Love it ! Sure wish I'd heard this stuff back then, I'd probably not made as many mistakes, but it's all in Yahweh's timing, I am still alive to find it 08-24-18 !

Wow @Randy Wilcox my mom had this lp when I was a kid, I used to listen to this and 2nd Chapter of Acts all day long. Years later I'm a record collector from Seattle and I've only seen it for sale once at Little Nell's record shop in Spokane almost 17 years ago. Now it's around $500 and up. :( PLEASE REPRESS SOME VINYL!! :)
@michaelfuria4257
