Hi Mike... I was maybe 9 or 10 years old when Wilson-McKinley rocked the house at the Maranatha Coffee House in Arlington, WA. My father had just converted and had helped convert a large space over a storefront on Olympic Avenue into an after-hours outreach. After the show, you guys parked your bus in a field across the street from our house and crashed there. My mom made a pancake breakfast for everyone in the morning, and when I proudly began playing this album on our console stereo someone in the band said something about the vocal mix (how do I remember this??) and asked me very nicely to take it off. Lol, I was so in awe of you guys that I was sure you'd want to hear your own masterpiece (again)! Confused me at the time, totally get it now.
Thanks for coming all the way out to Arlington ('71? '72?) and being gentle with an awestruck kid. Good times.

I was hanging around the I Am Coffee House in downtown Spokane in the late summer and fall of 1972. Wilson McKinley was the 'house band" for the coffee house and tied in with Carl Parks and the local Jesus People movement. I saw these guys play at the I Am, at High Bridge Park and once at Shadle Park High School. Just yesterday I was talking to a guy at church who knew Larry Norman and was in a band called the Salt and Light Co. out of Presbyterian Church in Hollywood. There is a documentary on Prime Video called Salt and Light - The Miracle in Hollywood. This guy was in the forefront of Jesus music in the late 60s and early 70s in CA. Meanwhile in Spokane, we had Wilson McKinley. Fascinating times.

I gave my heart to Jesus in Germany in 1971 and this was the first Christian rock band I heard. I also got my hands on the Truth paper. It was an inspiration to me in my early growth in the Lord.

Back in their day you could order their albums from the ministry newspaper called Truth. I used to read that until the aforementioned sin problem of their pastor. They were based out of Spokane. Thanks for putting this on YT because I haven't heard these guys since the 70s.

I still have preserved a number of 'The Truth' issues and own all the Wilson McKinley albums on LP. What treasures! Their true value lies in the memories evoked.

@@patrickphilip777 About the only name I can recall was a lady named Linda Meisner, who was active during the 70s and I think is still working at Christian coffee shops in the Tacoma area. Other places at that time had different pastors, so no one figure head. Many got on major ego head trips, thinking THEY were Jesus! 😢😢

I haven't heard these guys since the 70's. Wow, I was a jesus freak then as now just mellowed out a bit but if you need to hear the gospel in a forceful and respectful manner I will do that still. Peace and grace to all who hear this album. I hope the band stayed true to Jesus after their pastor turned out to have some major sin problems that forced him out of the ministry.

true. I just run it through the equalizer on reducing lower bass a couple of notches. It's good that it sounds raw, feels more like the times.

It sounds pretty good as is, in my cheap headphones. Maybe not to a 2020 audiophile, but to someone used to the records of that era; the mix befits the lyric/message focus such a purpose-built band would be suited for. If anything, it evokes a sound like 1966 on songs like 'I Need A Saviour''; which is not a bad thing at all.

I know what I mean I finished my trip at a guru feet, for few years. Nothing wrong with this way out the dope solution.
By the way this music is boring, IMMO, cause of the devot feeling.
