Jet
Wings Lyrics

Jet, jet, jet
I can almost remember their funny faces
That time you told 'em
That you were going to be marrying soon
And Jet, I thought the only lonely place was on the moon

Jet, jet, jet
Was your father as bold as a sergeant major?
Well, how come he told you
That you were hardly old enough yet
And Jet, I thought the major was a lady sufragette

Jet, jet
Ah mater, want Jet to always love me?
Ah mater, want Jet to always love me?
Ah mater, much later

Jet
And Jet, I thought the major was a lady sufragette

Jet, jet
Ah mater, want Jet to always love me?
Ah mater, want Jet to always love me?
Ah mater, much later

Jet
With the wind in your hair of a thousand laces
Climb on the back and we'll go for a ride in the sky
And Jet, I thought the major was a little lady sufragette

Jet, jet
And Jet, you know I thought you was a little lady sufragette

Jet
A little lady, my little lady, yes

In my opinion 'Jet' is one of Paul McCartney's greatest masterpieces. I never get tired of hearing the wonderful detail in the arrangement. The use of synths is delightfully uncomplicated, even wonky. The powerful guitars give the song an almost hard rock feel, and the sort of compressed lead vocal sound is so distinctive and effective. And there's that brief saxophone appearance near the end which is a stroke of genius. Not forgetting a devilishly catchy melody and very quirky lyrics. Yep, what a fantastic song.

Agree 100%. Jet is a criminally underrated masterpiece.

Paul was a genius at fresh melodies. He absorbed so many musical styles and combined them effortlessly. There are few songwriters who compare with him. His underlying emotion is always joy, like he was singing tavern songs late at night with the guys down on the docks. John Lennon was more complicated, irreverent, and sinister at times. Paul was a guy you wanted to be friends with.

The truth is, it's not a great song, it's some kind of song, but it's not a great song.

That's an interesting take on John and Paul you've got there. No doubt, John and Paul met and mixed as few others have, lightning strike bonanza!

he’s alive stop talking of him as if he’s dead

@Mirielle H.
Are you here to trash on John?
If so, well then grow up!
Beatle brotherhood, despite its differences was real and solid.

My teacher was playing this in class today. I respect him for making life just a little bit more happy in these current times.

This is your teacher and you'll be receiving a failing grade for taking too long in the restroom....
