Well it's all for rock and roll
That I have sold my soul
Would you remember me when I am [...]
Would I be faded away
Got to be the wrong kind of man
I've got so many things to say.

Well I've got to live my dreams
Even though the way it seems
Come on in boy 'cause I'm the [...]
I wont take anymore than you got

Well it's all for rock and roll
That I have sold my soul
Would you remember me when I am [...]
Would I be faded away?
Would I be disappeared?
Would I fade away?

Given ... my and my friends have all forgot me
Should I start again, I really need the [...]
Could I think of new ideas with the wrong point of view
Am I as strong as I used to be
I'm not as fast as I used to be
I know I can feel it, the [...] is [...] by
I know I can feel it, I feel it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Winterhawk's song Revival convey the sacrifices and struggles of pursuing a career in rock and roll. The first two lines of the song represent the artist's dedication to rock and roll as they have sold their soul to achieve their dream. The artist wonders whether they will be remembered after they are gone or if they will just fade away. The phrase "wrong kind of man" suggests that the artist may not be seen as socially acceptable or adhering to traditional values. The artist feels the pressure to stay true to their dreams and speak their mind despite opposition. In the second verse, the artist questions their ability to start over, with "given... my friends have all forgot me, should I start again?" The artist underscores the importance of perseverance, and that even if they are not as quick or strong as before, they will still give it their all.

Overall, the song speaks to the dedication and resilience required to be successful in the music industry. The lyrics reveal the agony that the artist faces as they pursue their dream, as they require the strength to be different from the masses and the ability to persevere even though the future is uncertain.

I've been lucky enough to have grown up on this album. My dad, Joseph Adamec, played with these guys for a little while in college. Grateful the album is available to stream now so I can listen when I'm missing my dad. Wish I had more of my dad's music recorded... But this is a close second.
