While playing live, the band attempts to make the listener as much a part of the music as the band themselves by encouraging everyone to sing along.
They were nominated for two Juno Awards of 2008 and took home one of them: Alternative Album of the Year, and New Group of the Year (which they won).

Blood Collection
Wintersleep Lyrics

Despite ongoing tests
We have reason to believe
In your disappearance
Sparkle, swivel, sparkle
Stack of government checks
Stack of government checks
Just a series of tests
Just a sample of blood
For the blood collection
As we review the case
As we rewind the tapes
Did you swallow the pill
You said you wouldn't take?
Call up, back home, call up
Stack of government checks
Stack of government checks
Just a telephone call
Have you already left?
Just a sample of blood
For the blood collection
The song "Blood Collection" by Wintersleep discusses a mysterious disappearance that is being investigated. Despite probable cause and ongoing tests, there is reason to believe that the person in question has disappeared. The lyrics "sparkle, swivel, sparkle" are repeated throughout the song and could represent the sound of a flashlight being shone around a dark area in search of clues.
The second verse reveals that government checks have been involved in the investigation, and the authorities have requested a sample of blood for the blood collection. As they review the evidence and rewind tapes, they question whether the missing person may have taken a pill despite denying it. The lyrics end with the question of whether the person has already left, and the necessity of taking a sample of their blood.
Overall, the song seems to be about the process of investigating a mysterious disappearance and collecting evidence in search of answers. The repetitive use of words "sparkle, swivel, sparkle" and "stack of government checks" set a tone of repetitiveness and investigations that span over a long period of time.
