1) Wishing Well was a melodic punk band that consisted of Justin denBok - Vocals, Stephan LaCasse - Guitar/Vocals, Scott Ross - Drums and Kevin Bruce - Bass
The band formed in the Okanagan city of Vernon, BC and lasted from 1996 until 2002. The four members all went to high school together, playing the odd show at community halls and such. In 1999, they recorded their first full-length, "Choices Made, Lessons Learned". It was recorded and released independantly. It wasn't long before Vancouver indie label Spawner Records (home to Complete, Glasshead, Andre's Last Chance, and many more) caught wind of Wishing Well and, after seeing their live show, requested a copy of Choices Made. Spawner signed the band and re-pressed the cd. Choices Made went on to sell almost 1000 copies in the year and a half that followed.
It was about this time, October 2000 to be exact, that Wishing Well began touring. This was a band that knew the meaning of the word "work". They did just about everything themselves, from booking 200 shows in less than a year, designing their own cd labels, maintaining their website and mailing lists, taking care of merch designs and orders, and sending out press releases and promo photos to local papers. Since they started touring in 2000, they have toured Canada six times.
Music-wise, Wishing Well has just about something for everyone. Their songs combine punk, pop, and hardcore, and they manage to balance all aspects of their music perfectly. They have been compared to such bands as Saves the Day, New Found Glory, and Jimmy Eat World, but their sound is decidedly less "happy". Lead vocalist Justin denBok writes "not so much about girls and unattainable love, but of more vague, angst-ridden subjects, such as struggles with depression, spirituality, and loss of trust."
After all that touring, Wishing Well took a break and recorded their second album, "Intervals". It quickly sold out it's first pressing within the band's first tour supporting it. Tracks from Intervals also got onto many compilations and got airplay from college radio stations (and a few commercial stations, too.) all across the country. Wishing Well began appearing on cable-access TV shows, they were interviewed on college radio stations, headlined large festivals in Quebec, and were granted a Pacific Music Industry Association tour grant. During their tours they drew an average of 200 fans per show. Speaking of fans, they have had fans all over the place, including ones from Italy, Japan, China, Germany, France, Brazil, and the USA.
After the completion of Intervals and some touring, the band (which was a five-piece at the time) decided that the whole "lead guitarist" thing wasn't working for them. Guitarist Matt Lunde left the band in early 2002.
The same year the 4 remaining members of Wishing Well decided to pursue new goals independent of the other members. Justin went on to become the vocalist for Complete releasing a full-length album with them, Windows and Shadows, as well as an EP.

Because everythings comming down
Everything is comming down
And i, i'll see you on the ramp
Because everythings comming down
Everything is comming down
And i, i will confide that you were always there
And my pain is not to share
But this life is way to short for me to stay
Pieces.. of my own life are on the ramp
Because everythings comming down
Everything is comming down
And i,and i will see you on the ramp
Because everythings comming down
Everything is comming down
And i, i will confide that you were always there
And my pain is not to share
And i, i have realized that it is dumb for me to go
But this life is way to short for me to stay
And then we find, this state of glow
Reaching out, but i dont know
Reaching out
Turning in
Falling on my skin
And i know i, i will confide
And know that you were always there
And my pain is not to share
And i, i have realized that it is dumb for me to go
But this life is way to short for me to stay
And then we find, this state of glow
Reaching out, but i dont know
Reaching out
Turning in
Falling on my skin
I'll get through, i'll get through you, i'll get through this
I'll get through, i'll get through this, i'll get through you
...again
The song "Pieces" by Wishing Well seems to be about a person going through a tough time in their life. The opening line "Pieces of my own life are on the ramp" suggests that this person's life is falling apart. They feel like everything is coming down around them and they are powerless to stop it. The repetition of the line "Everything is coming down" emphasizes this feeling of helplessness in the face of a seemingly insurmountable problem.
The lyrics also suggest that this person has someone in their life who has been a constant source of support. The lines "And I will confide that you were always there/And my pain is not to share" indicate that this person has a close relationship with someone who they trust implicitly. However, despite this support, the person feels like they need to make a change. The line "But this life is way too short for me to stay" suggests that they have decided to take action and move on from whatever is causing them pain.
The later part of the song is more abstract, with lines like "Reaching out but I don't know/Reaching out, turning in/Falling on my skin". These lines suggest a sense of confusion and disorientation, as if the person doesn't know what direction to go in next. However, the lines "I'll get through, I'll get through you, I'll get through this" suggest that they are determined to persevere and find a way to overcome their struggles.
