The band got their start in 2010 under the name Our Escape, playing shows when possible and releasing a demo. After a name change and a few member changes, the Phoenix EP was recorded and released during the summer of 2011. The band announced their signing with Red Cord Records in early 2012, a label associated with acts such as Inhale Exhale, A Past Unknown, and Phinehas.
