Everything I said tonight was practiced in my room
Not twenty minutes before I saw you
In that red dress that you wore so well
But your motives become transparent and we can tell
I'm turning blue
Holding my breath for something new
So here's to second chances
I close my eyes
And hold on tight
For one true thing
To finally feel real
I'm gonna start by saying what I mean
Regardless of where this goes or how it ends
It's better to know now
That we're with friends
Operate on little to no sleep
Caffeine and "Jersey's Best Dancers"
This is the soundtrack that saved my life
So here's to second chances
I close my eyes
And hold on tight
For one true thing
To finally feel real
I'm gonna start by saying what I mean
Regardless of where this goes or how it ends
It's better to know now
That we're with friends
If I close my eyes
And hold on tight
For one true thing
To finally feel real [x2]
I'm gonna start by saying what I mean
Regardless of where this goes or how it ends
It's better to know now
That we're with friends
If this is where it ends
It's better to know now
That we're with friends
The opening lines of "Stick and Move" by With the Punches indicate that the words coming out of the singer's mouth were not spontaneous, but rather practiced. This is likely because the singer is trying to confess his true feelings to someone he cares about. The mention of the person's "red dress" suggests that the singer is speaking to a romantic interest. However, the singer also mentions that he can see through the person's motives, which implies that there may be some distrust or doubt in the relationship.
The chorus lines, "So here's to second chances / I close my eyes / And hold on tight / For one true thing / To finally feel real," suggest that the singer is hopeful for a fresh start in the relationship. He wants to believe that there is something real between them and is willing to take another chance to make it work.
The final verse includes references to caffeine and music as sources of comfort and inspiration for the singer. The line, "This is the soundtrack that saved my life," suggests that the music is particularly important to him. The overall message of the song seems to be about taking a risk in a relationship, even if there is the potential for heartache, and relying on the support of friends and familiar comforts to get through it.
