Haunted
Witt Lowry Lyrics

I have known it all this time
But I never thought I'd live to see it break
It's getting dark and it's all too quiet
And I can't trust anything now
And it's coming over you like it's all a big mistake
Oh, I'm holding my breath, won't lose you again
Something's made your eyes go cold
She was a lonely girl in a cold world
It seemed like no one could console her
And she would laugh, but she was crying on the inside
And all this pain she felt inside, she just couldn't hide
But at parties she would seem to act just fine
And drink her problems away until they subside
And they did, but with time they would come back to haunt her
The drugs and the alcohol turned her into a monster
But she didn't care, she was looking for a quick fix
Looking in the mirror, going out, new lipstick
Wanting to be the girl that's in every guys dreams
Looked into the mirror, sat down and screamed
She screamed
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back now, I'm haunted
He was a lonely boy with a big void
His heart had been thrown around like a cheap toy
And it was big, but nobody cared
And he would give them all his love, but they were unprepared
And his friends told him,"Fuck bitches, yeah get money
Why spend your time stressing out over honeys?"
And he didn't know, but he wanted to feel something
Searching for a love and ended up finding nothing
But one night he headed up at a party
Saw this girl there, she was acting kinda snotty
But he kinda liked it, it kinda turned him on
And though the signs were there, he approached her head on
Red flags popped up everywhere in the room
And still he asked her if she would be busy at noon
And of course she said no, so they went out on a date
And from that moment on, he had sealed his own fate
He'd say
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back now, I'm haunted
And so now they're official, a couple months later
He had second thoughts, he didn't know if he should date her
But he didn't wanna be lonely
So he didn't listen to advice from his homies
And everything was great or so this boy thought
He was looking for love and this girl was just not
She never cared for him, she was looking for a quick fix
Looking in the mirror, going out, new lipstick
This boy would give her everything, anything he fucking could
This girl was never happy with herself, love? she never would
And one day this boy went over to her house
She was with another dude giving head on the couch
Screaming
Oh, I'm holding my breath, won't lose you again
Something's made your eyes go cold
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back now, I'm haunted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back now, I'm haunted
The lyrics of Witt Lowry's song "Haunted" tell two stories of young adults who are struggling to find their place in the world and in relationships. The first story is about a girl who is trying to hide her pain and problems by drinking and partying, but they always come back to haunt her. The second story is about a boy who is searching for love and attention, but ends up with a toxic girl who doesn't care about him at all. Both stories are about the fragility of relationships and the pain of losing someone you thought you had figured out.
The chorus of the song, "Come on, come on, don't leave me like this, I thought I had you figured out," is repeated throughout the song and represents the fear of losing someone or something that you thought you understood. The lines "Can't breathe whenever you're gone, can't turn back now, I'm haunted" speak to the feeling of being trapped in a haunting memory or experience that you can't escape from.
The song speaks to the universal theme of the fragility of human relationships and the pain of losing someone you thought you knew. The first verse speaks to the common experience of hiding one's pain and problems behind a façade of partying and drinking, while the second verse speaks to the misguided search for love and acceptance that can lead to toxic relationships.

The words may not rhyme. But the story cuts deep.
Cam New
Well the words don’t rhyme in and of themselves, but the verses have rhyme schemes. It’s very Eminem-ish
Rocko
Oh it's an obvious rhyme
It's not exact rhyme but there is definitely a rhyme scheme.

...Well Taylor Swift's verses don't but they were never meant to be part of a rap cover anyways, Witt's verses absolutely beyond a measurable doubt does rhyme
Will Leyland
Lucky McWoozy rapping isn't about rhyming, it's about making the words flow together in a story, if that means rhyming then yea. But it's more than just that

Holy shit, wish I found this a few months ago.
Got my first serious girlfriend and I was instantly in love with her, or so I thought. She seemed to be as well but two months passed and she cheated on me. I was so transfixed on her that I went against my own moral code and tried to talk to her about it, and she got pissed that I was even questioning her and left me. But I said no, you aren't leaving me, I'm leaving you. It was a heartbreak for me, one I'm quite embarrassed over but fuck it, the feels I had were real.
Anyway, this song is way too relatable and I wish I found it sooner.
