Stolen Hammer
Wizard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The dawn is breaking
Light comes bright
On the new day now awaking
Giants Thor will fight
He is looking everywhere
For his mighty crusher
The weapon is not there
Bringing anger to the rusher
Thrym has stolen Mjoellnir
He wants Freyja as a prize
For the weapon giants fear
Don't think this to be wise
See the eyes of redbeard
Filled with divine rage
Asking Freyja as she neared
To go into the giants cage
But Freyja just refuse
To be the hammers pawn
Loki knows what trick to use
Use brain instead of brawn

[Refrain:]
All giants died, the hammer's home
And Freyja is still here
One will someday challenge him alone
But that is not anybody near!

Thor and Loki now disguise
Themselves as Freyja and handmaid
The mighty has to hide his eyes
And both travel to their fate
Thrym gladly hail his bride
His pleasure was unseen
He does not see what Thor did hide
But had a notion of the mean
Some things were strange to him
And he was curious to know
Loki swiftly starts the answering
So the giant didn't see his foe
A ritual shall seal the bond
The hammer falls into the fold

Rage breaks through and goes beyond
Everything since days of old

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Wizard's song Stolen Hammer narrate the story of Thrym, the giant who stole Mjoellnir, the hammer of Thor, and demanded Freyja as a ransom. Thor, upon discovering the theft, sets out to retrieve his hammer and ventures to Jotunheim, the land of the giants, in disguise with the help of Loki. The two trick Thrym into believing that Thor was Freyja, and they proceed with the arranged wedding ceremony. However, at the height of the ritual, Thor reveals himself and reclaims his hammer, using it to destroy all of the giants.

The lyrics describe Thrym's obsession with the hammer and his belief that possessing it would bring him ultimate power over the gods. However, it also highlights the cunning nature of the gods, who use their intelligence to outsmart the giants and regain what is theirs. The refrain emphasizes that Thor and his hammer are indestructible and unbreakable.

The song follows a similar storyline to the mythological story of Thor's journey to Jotunheim to retrieve his hammer, but adds a poetic and dramatic element to the storytelling. The lyrics of Stolen Hammer are emblematic of the power and strength of the mythology surrounding Thor as a figure of protection and defense.

Awesome pick! This is one of my favorite songs off that album along side The Visitor! That picture is perfect too. Keep it up!

@IndigoSpeaker

Hey friend, just thought I'd mention (as a person who produces videos to educate on matters of significance to pagans and magicians of many shades) that I am truly disappointed to be unable to watch your renditions of the northern tales. They meant a lot to me the first time I watched them all, and I was hoping to recapture some of that experience tonight. I know how it is, questioning every statement I've ever made in video, wanting to erase so much now that I feel like I know better... but don't destroy such beauty as you have already created. Don't hate the pretensiousness of trying to tell the tales as part of a unified vision. those videos were works of high artistry and genuine inspiration. Please bring them back?

@CSkyGameGen

Basically this^ It's such a shame to see them all gone, I wish I had saved them so I could upload them for everyone else, the amount of work onza put on those videos was magnificent, the narration, the style combined with the music was just pure gold. I wish he came back, to tell the tale once more.

@Judgement_Kazzy

This sounds like the theme song of a pro wrestler themed after Thor. I love it.

@coty1476

Does anyone have access to his older videos on his interpretation on Norse mythology? They had such a huge impact on me and my son.

@aarononeil9832
