The song "Essence" by Wizkid featuring Tems talks about the deep connection and love the singer has for his partner. The song starts with a repetition of "ohh naa naa" and "omo je ka shi ge ge whoa" which can be translated to "don't shift me" or "don't dodge me." These words emphasize the strong desire the singer has for his lover and how he wants to be close to her. He tells her that he doesn't want to let her go and that he needs her in his life even though he wants to leave her in the morning. He acknowledges that time is of the essence and that he might need some lessons in loving her better, but he promises to give her all she needs.
Wizkid's verses show how his lover means everything to him and that he cannot imagine his life without her. The gentle guitar riffs and pulsating drums in the background create a relaxed and seductive vibe that perfectly complements the lyrics. The chorus repeats the line "You don't need no other body, only you fi hold my body" which exhibits how much the singer treasures his partner and that she's the only one for him. The song ends with promising lyrics of love and commitment.
