Overall Meaning

In this song, Wizkid talks about his transformation from a young unknown boy without money and fashion sense, to being a successful musician with fame and fortune. In the chorus, he repeats the phrase "Wad up", which means "what's up", to indicate how people's attitudes towards him have changed over time. He talks about how girls used to ignore him and even boys thought he looked dirty, but now everybody wants to be his friend because of his success.

Wizkid also references his humble beginnings and how he used to wear simple clothes, but now he has the money to buy fancy cars and designer clothes. Despite all this, he remains true to himself and does things his own way. He says that people who didn't believe in him back then should “shut up” but those who want to know him should say “wad up”. Wizkid ends the song on a celebratory note, talking about his royal heritage as an "omoba", which means "prince" in Yoruba.
