Jochen Bix founded the band "Wieso" (meaning "why?") with friends in Sindelfingen, a town in the vicinity of Stuttgart. In 1986 they altered their name to "WIZO" and got their first gig in 1987. In 1988 WIZO released their first demo tape, in 1990, they released another demo. Jochen only sang a few songs, including the Judas Priest cover, "Breakin' the Law." Then, he left and Axel Kurth became the front man.
Later that year, they founded their own label, Hulk Räckorz and released the "Klebstoff" ("Glue") EP, their first vinyl record.
In 1991, "Für'n Arsch" (familiar for "To No Avail") was released.
In 1992, their first CD, "Bleib Tapfer" ("Stay Brave") was released. They then released the single "Roy Black ist tot" ("Roy Black Is Dead") as a dubious tribute to the German pop-star Roy Black on the one year anniversary of his death. The tribute in question was a punk cover of a children's song with the lyrics altered to a German version of "Roy Black is dead, Roy Black is dead." It was named the worst CD of the year by the Bild-Zeitung, a major German tabloid.
In 1994, their next CD, "UUAARRGH!" was released,in 1995 they released "Herrénhandtasche" and played on a tour with Die Ärzte.
In 1996, WIZO's lineup changed; Ingo Hahn replaced their long-standing drummer, Charly Zasko, and he and Axel "are fortunately no longer in contact." With Ingo, "Doof wie Scheiße" ("Dumb as Shit") was also recorded.
In 1997, they released the "Weihnachten stinkt!" ("Christmas stinks!") Split EP with the Japanese punk band Hi-Standard.
In 1998, Wizo released "Kraut & Rüben" ("Tops and Curnips") EP on Fatwreck, being the songs that were already popular in Germany, but unknown to the rest of the world. That year, Herr Guhl replaced Ingo as drummer.
September, 2004, WIZO made a first in the music industry by releasing a single on USB keydrive, titled as the "WIZO Stick EP." In addition to five high bitrate MP3's, it also included a video, pictures, lyrics, and tabs. In November of 2004, coinciding with the release of their final album, "Anderster," they announced their intent to dissolve in March of 2005, upon the conclusion of their farewell tour.
November, 2009, WIZO announced on www.wizo.de : "wizo kommt wieder!" ("WIZO comes back").

Dani called and told me there's a party down at Kai's
Theres' a little work to do it can be done tomorrow
I grab my keys, my leather and I'm out of trouble and sorrow
I'm sitting in my car My stereo is puking
don't care 'bout anythingdon't wanna live forever
I'm cruising- aha aha I'm only cruising- it's fun to waste mt gas
I'm cruising- aha aha maybe I'm losing- I don't care
cause I am only cruising
I hit a few red lights and sometimes I'm too fast
Then there's something tries to stop my fun I'm out of gas
Ain't no big thing today somehow I got some money
And after I filled up
I remember I should have payed the phone
I'm sitting in my car My stereo is puking
don't care 'bout anythingdon't wanna live forever
I'm cruising- aha aha I'm only cruising- it's fun to waste mt gas
I'm cruising- aha aha maybe I'm losing- I don't care
cause I am only cruising
I'm sitting in my car My stereo is puking
don't care 'bout anythingdon't wanna live forever
I'm cruising- aha aha I'm only cruising- it's fun to waste mt gas
I'm cruising- aha aha maybe I'm losing- I don't care
cause I am only cruising
The lyrics to WIZO's song "Cruising" seem to be about the carefree and exhilarating feeling of driving around aimlessly, without a particular destination, and just enjoying the moment. The imagery of the sun shining and kids making noise suggests a carefree atmosphere, and the reference to a party down at Kai's adds to the feeling of excitement and impulsivity. The singer seems to be in a mindset of putting off responsibilities (there's a little work to do but it can be done tomorrow) and just living in the present. The repeated phrase "I'm cruising" suggests a sense of enjoyment and freedom.
The lyrics also touch on themes of rebellion, with lines such as "sometimes I'm too fast" and "something tries to stop my fun, I'm out of gas." The latter line can also be interpreted as a metaphor for running out of energy or passion, as though the singer is refusing to let anything hold them back from their impulsive and carefree lifestyle. The use of the phrase "don't care 'bout anything, don't wanna live forever" suggests a rejection of societal norms and a desire to live in the moment without worrying about the future.
Overall, the song seems to celebrate the thrill of being free, rebellious, and impulsive, even if it means wasting gas and money. It's a catchy tune with a simple message that many people can relate to - the feeling of driving around with no particular destination and just enjoying the moment.
