(1) Wizzard was Roy Wood’s post- ELO project. Formed in Wood's hometown of Birmingham, Warwickshire in 1972, they made catchy, jazzy glam-rock hit singles like "Angel Fingers" and "See My Baby Jive" with a retro, Phil Spector-style "wall of sound" production. At the same time, they produced decidedly odd, almost avant-garde albums like Wizzard Brew. They remained active until around 1975.
(2) One of them is a 'blackened' heavy metal band from Finland. It enjoyed some success in Finland and Germany though even some fans wondered why they had taken the name of Roy Wood's famous band – the other z was actually added because the band didn't want to be confused with the German band Wizard. The band was founded by Teemu Kautonen as his solo-project in August 1995, and he handled all the instruments on the first demo, Teemu moved the band to Germany in April 1997 adding new local musicians CY and Daniel to the line-up. In August Teemu returned to Finland, but moved back to Germany in January 2001, and CY and Daniel came along again. Also a new guitarist Johnny joined the band.
Last known lineup:
Teemu Kautonen aka Hexenmeister - Vocals, originally also Bass & Guitars
CY aka Grobi - Drums
Daniel - Lead Guitars, Bass
Johnny - Rhythm Guitars

Takin' them jitterbug pills
If I can't stop the dance
Then I ain't gonna cure your ills
I see your face at the ball each night, baby
But it don't feel right
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
Well, it's no good screamin' and
Telling me where to go
'Cause your daddy don't care if I
Wear my hair down low
You're right on pretty and just
Sixteen, uh huh baby
Like a dance hall queen
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
Well, cool it, baby, ooh-wee
You're killin' that rock 'n' roll
Can't put down what you doin' to me
You're brushing me off like a green beanpole
Well, it's Saturday night and we
Just sneaked through the door
Just me and my buddies get
Jumpin' all around the floor
I'm dancin' real close with
A girl named Jill
Uuh baby I can't stand still
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
Well, it's no good screamin' and
Telling me where to go
'Cause your daddy don't care if I
Wear my hair down lowYou're right on pretty and just
Sixteen, uh huh baby
Like a dance hall queen
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
Well, cool it, baby, ooh wee
You're killin' that rock 'n' roll
Can't put down what you doin' to me

Well, holy smoke you been
Takin' them jitterbug pills
If I can't stop the dance then
I ain't gonna cure your ills
I see your face at the ball each night, baby
But it don't feel right
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
C'mon, hush, I gotta crush about you
Uh huh, I gotta crush about you
The song "Gotta Crush" by Wizzard is a classic rock and roll song that captures the energy and excitement of young love. The lyrics follow a young man who is infatuated with a girl he sees at the ball every night. Despite her father's disapproval, he remains determined to win her over and can't help but dance when she's around.
The first verse suggests that the object of the singer's affection is taking some sort of pills that make her jittery, but he's so entranced by her that he doesn't care. He can't resist the dance and he won't let her go. The second verse touches on the father's disapproval, but again the singer's focus is solely on the girl he's crushing on.
The chorus repeats the phrase "I gotta crush about you" again and again, emphasizing the singer's strong feelings for the girl. The bridge features a warning to "cool it" because the girl is "killing that rock 'n' roll." The final verse echoes the first, suggesting that despite everything, the singer still can't shake his feelings for the girl.
Overall, the song is a lighthearted and infectious celebration of youthful passion and the excitement of discovering new love.

Ridiculous how good this band was

I like Wizzard Brew very much. I think many person understood his brilliant and bizarre way to create this kind of music. In a wrong way. Roy Wood was at his best in 1973. This album and all the singles of Wizzard were superb that year.

The best track on Wizzard Brew, for my money, and certainly the only one that I ever heard getting any radio airplay!
Just got to love how much sheer FUN everyone seems to be having and Roy's affectionate Elvis vocal always makes me smile.
To this day, I still haven't got the foggiest idea whether this actually has a lyric or if he's just faking one while throwing in the occasional decipherable snippet such as a "Holy smoke!" or a "Baby!"
This is manic anarchy and I love it.

On the album lyric sheet, it says for this song " Must be sung inMumbled tones, use your own words in the spaces provided" :-)
@gerrycoogan6544
Ha ha! That figures. :-)
This is me, incidentally, now finding out for the very first time that there WAS a lyric sheet with the album. My copy didn't have one. :-(

I personally prefer "Meet Me at the Jailhouse", thirteen and a half minutes of complete madness, duelling synthesised saxophones, heavy guitar riffs, huge cello licks and thunderous drumming, it's bloody marvelous. When Wizzard played it live they expanded that track to 45 minutes long.
Woody is a national treasure, who should have been knighted years ago for his contribution to rock music.
