(1) Wizzard was Roy Wood’s post- ELO project. Formed in Wood's hometown of Birmingham, Warwickshire in 1972, they made catchy, jazzy glam-rock hit singles like "Angel Fingers" and "See My Baby Jive" with a retro, Phil Spector-style "wall of sound" production. At the same time, they produced decidedly odd, almost avant-garde albums like Wizzard Brew. They remained active until around 1975.
(2) One of them is a 'blackened' heavy metal band from Finland. It enjoyed some success in Finland and Germany though even some fans wondered why they had taken the name of Roy Wood's famous band – the other z was actually added because the band didn't want to be confused with the German band Wizard. The band was founded by Teemu Kautonen as his solo-project in August 1995, and he handled all the instruments on the first demo, Teemu moved the band to Germany in April 1997 adding new local musicians CY and Daniel to the line-up. In August Teemu returned to Finland, but moved back to Germany in January 2001, and CY and Daniel came along again. Also a new guitarist Johnny joined the band.
Last known lineup:
Teemu Kautonen aka Hexenmeister - Vocals, originally also Bass & Guitars
CY aka Grobi - Drums
Daniel - Lead Guitars, Bass
Johnny - Rhythm Guitars

The Left Hand Of Eternity
Wizzard Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like harbingers of infernal ire
A blitz of decadence into the dormant world
Seraphs seared falling into the murk
Out of the welkins boreal
Devastation to bring
The blight of stability With blazing ardour
Smiting the serene
The left hand of eternity
Alison kept on ogling the pompous sight
The flame of her reverie ultimately to ignite
To come was the checkmate of her foes
Her rightful place on the right side of the throne
Her summonings evoked the brothers in evil
Had the singular form been false
In the exegeses about the coming of the Antichrist?
In Wizzard's song The Left Hand Of Eternity, the lyrics depict a powerful and ominous sight of figures riding along the skyline of fire, foretelling a coming reckoning and upheaval. The figure of Alison is singled out for her intense focus on this sight, as her dreams and desires are pushed to ignite within her. These lyrics symbolically explore the theme of upheaval bringing about change and the opportunity for the underdog to rise to power.
The imagery used in the song is evocative and full of powerful symbolic meaning. The "harbingers of infernal ire" represent the destructive force that is about to bring about change. "Seraphs seared falling into the murk" speaks to the chaos and disorder which will consume everything in its path. The "blitz of decadence" symbolises the collapse of societal structure and order. The left hand of eternity talks about the coming of the antichrist and portrays a sense of rebellion.
Wizzard's The Left Hand Of Eternity is packed full of symbolism and deeper meanings, and is a song that rewards careful listening and analysis.
