(1) Wizzard was Roy Wood’s post- ELO project. Formed in Wood's hometown of Birmingham, Warwickshire in 1972, they made catchy, jazzy glam-rock hit singles like "Angel Fingers" and "See My Baby Jive" with a retro, Phil Spector-style "wall of sound" production. At the same time, they produced decidedly odd, almost avant-garde albums like Wizzard Brew. They remained active until around 1975.
(2) One of them is a 'blackened' heavy metal band from Finland. It enjoyed some success in Finland and Germany though even some fans wondered why they had taken the name of Roy Wood's famous band – the other z was actually added because the band didn't want to be confused with the German band Wizard. The band was founded by Teemu Kautonen as his solo-project in August 1995, and he handled all the instruments on the first demo, Teemu moved the band to Germany in April 1997 adding new local musicians CY and Daniel to the line-up. In August Teemu returned to Finland, but moved back to Germany in January 2001, and CY and Daniel came along again. Also a new guitarist Johnny joined the band.
Last known lineup:
Teemu Kautonen aka Hexenmeister - Vocals, originally also Bass & Guitars
CY aka Grobi - Drums
Daniel - Lead Guitars, Bass
Johnny - Rhythm Guitars

Through the woods and cities they had stormed
Victory! Victory!
In every battle they fought
Corpses of enemy soldiers, wives, and children
Burnt together with the ruins of the land
With the blazons on their helmets the fear died away In their hearts yet it bloomed in the ones of the enemies
The blazon had become symbolic of an unstoppable force
That follows the flag of the emperor all the way until victory or death
Invincible they marched
Through the burnt land
Victory seemed to be tight
In their iron hand
Until the dawn of winter
Every battle had been won
The flag flew proud under the eastern sun
When the first snow fell on the streets
The final battle was at hand
Thunder! Lightning!
Cannons grinded the ground
The blood of the comrade on the snow
The fall of the imagined divinity
Limbs frozen they fought in the icy inferno
Yet the enemy had awoken from its winter sleep
Though enemies fell in herds their numbers seemed to grow
The duty was to fight till the last breath - to never retreat
Persistent they fought
In the burnt land Victory had fallen
From their iron hand
After the dawn of winter
No more battles were won
The flag hung torn under the eastern sun
By the last dawn thousands and thousands laid dead on the snow
Caught by enemy bullets, hunger, or cold
The distant dreams of victory had bled on the ruined streets
Shattered like the thousands of frozen tears
Abandoned they fell
In the burnt land
Victory had fallen
From their iron hand
After the dawn of winter
No more battles were won
The flag buried in snow under the eastern sun
The lyrics of Wizzard’s song “Under The Eastern Sun” seem to be telling a story about a victorious army that marches through the land and defeats countless enemies along the way. The blazons on their helmets become a symbol of their power and invincibility. However, as the winter comes, they face the final battle against their enemy. With cannons and thunder, they fight to their last breath, but in the end, the victory slips away from their iron hand. They are left abandoned on the burnt land, with the flag buried in snow under the eastern sun.
The lyrics seem to be about the futility of war and the catastrophic consequences that it can bring, even to the victorious armies. The description of corpses of enemy soldiers, wives and children burnt together with the ruins of the land depict the horror of war. The emphasis on the blazons on the helmet and the symbolism they carry serves to remind us of the vanity of victory and how it can be fleeting. The lyrics, therefore, seem to convey a message of caution towards the glorification of war and the dangers of overestimating one's power.
