(1) Wizzard was Roy Wood’s post- ELO project. Formed in Wood's hometown of Birmingham, Warwickshire in 1972, they made catchy, jazzy glam-rock hit singles like "Angel Fingers" and "See My Baby Jive" with a retro, Phil Spector-style "wall of sound" production. At the same time, they produced decidedly odd, almost avant-garde albums like Wizzard Brew. They remained active until around 1975.
(2) One of them is a 'blackened' heavy metal band from Finland. It enjoyed some success in Finland and Germany though even some fans wondered why they had taken the name of Roy Wood's famous band – the other z was actually added because the band didn't want to be confused with the German band Wizard. The band was founded by Teemu Kautonen as his solo-project in August 1995, and he handled all the instruments on the first demo, Teemu moved the band to Germany in April 1997 adding new local musicians CY and Daniel to the line-up. In August Teemu returned to Finland, but moved back to Germany in January 2001, and CY and Daniel came along again. Also a new guitarist Johnny joined the band.
Last known lineup:
Teemu Kautonen aka Hexenmeister - Vocals, originally also Bass & Guitars
CY aka Grobi - Drums
Daniel - Lead Guitars, Bass
Johnny - Rhythm Guitars

Wear A Fast Gun

And there's no pavement on the street
You see the light, for it's still calling you
Let it go boy, let it be
When you're walking down
Feeling all screwed up inside
Your woman waits and she's still waiting for you Let it go boy, let it ride
Wear a fast gun and you'll be all right
Through the fight, stand by me
Wear a fast gun and you'll live tonight
Holding on, take your place and stand by me
Holding on, Christian brother stand by me
When you're walking down
Your eyes are filled with burning rage
And it may seem to overpower you
Let it go boy, once again
Wear a fast gun and you'll be all right
Through the fight, stand by me
Wear a fast gun and you'll live tonight
Holding on, take your place and stand by me
Holding on, Christian brother stand by me
When you're walking down
And there are waves beneath your feet
The moment nears, it shakes the heart from you
Let it go boy, let it be
Wear a fast gun and you'll be all right
Through the fight, stand by me Wear a fast gun and you'll live tonight
Holding on, take your place and stand by me
Holding on, Christian brother stand by me
When you're walking down
And there's no pavement on the street
You see the light, for it's still calling you
Let it go boy, let it be
Wear a fast gun and you'll be all right
Through the fight, stand by me
Wear a fast gun and you'll live tonight
Holding on, take your place and stand by me
Holding on, Christian brother stand by me
Abide with me, abide with me
Abide with me, abide with me
The lyrics of Wizzard's song "Wear a Fast Gun" may be interpreted in different ways. At first glance, it seems like the song is about a man walking down the street, feeling angry and helpless. He is advised to "let it go," and to wear a fast gun, promising that he will be "all right." The lyrics suggest that the man is facing some sort of a challenge or a fight and that he needs to take his place and stand by his friends.
The song's overall vibe and sound are reminiscent of Spaghetti Westerns and classic cowboy movies, which typically feature characters wearing guns and face off against each other in tense shootouts. The song's central theme of wearing a fast gun, standing by friends, and fighting against adversaries aligns with common cowboy tropes.
Taking a closer look at the lyrics, it appears that the song is more complex than just a tribute to old Western movies. The lyrics may be open to interpretation, but some suggest that the song goes more profound into religious themes than initially evident. The line "Abide with me, abide with me" appears after each chorus, and the reference to "Christian brother" may be a hint at the song's religious undertones.
Overall, "Wear a Fast Gun" is a reflective and powerful song with a blend of Spaghetti Western motifs and religious allusions. The message of the song seems to encourage people facing challenges to stand firm and fight, trusting that their faith will help them overcome any obstacles.
