Nothing Left To Lose
Woe Is Me Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Did you honestly think for a second we played our final song?
In spite of those who disagree, you know it feels damn good to prove you wrong!
Singing oh whoa, we did it somehow
And oh whoa, it’s our turn now
We’ll shut you down, you’ll drown like the rest of them
Need I remind you?
That you’re up against the best of them!
So let me promise you this
With ignorance as your bliss, your name won’t ever be missed when we are through with this
I’ll be the thought that’s in the back of your head
We’ll be the monsters hiding under your bed
I’ll make you pay for all the things that you said
Use your own line to cut off your fucking head!

I thought I told you once that you reap what you sow
But I guess this time around I’ll say I told you so
Now that was clever
But let me make this clear
We are coming for you
We are coming for you!

Tell me why
They painted us with guilt
They said that we’re not good enough
The only thing we’re guilty of is never giving up
So take a second glance and put yourself into these shoes
We got a second chance and we’ve got nothing left to lose
So keep singing, oh whoa, whoa
Oh whoa, whoa
So keep singing!

Take a second glance and put yourself into these shoes
We got a second chance and we’ve got nothing left to lose

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Nothing Left to Lose" by Woe Is Me convey the idea of pushing forward and proving people wrong despite their doubts. The opening lines "Did you honestly think for a second we played our final song? In spite of those who disagree, you know it feels damn good to prove you wrong!" sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer confronts those who doubted them and celebrate their success.

The chorus of the song, with the lyrics "We’ll shut you down, you’ll drown like the rest of them / Need I remind you? / That you’re up against the best of them!" implies that the singer considers themselves the best and that their success will inevitably shut down and overpower their critics.

The second verse of the song takes on a more direct tone towards their critics as they express their desire for revenge: "I’ll make you pay for all the things that you said / Use your own line to cut off your fucking head!" Here, the singer is saying that they are not taking their detractors' criticisms sitting down, and they will make them pay for their words.

Im really baffled by all the hate this band and cd gets. This is the most heartfelt passionate inspirational cd Ive heard in a very long time. I suffer from an anxiety disorder and have lots of problems and this cd hits a spot inside unlike all the other bands I like, who just write stories for their lyrics like MIW or AA!. This cd doesnt sound all the same its not all just breakdowns and its not all just hate towards Tyler & Michael.

In my opinion i think is one of the best albums YET!!! I love how much bass they put on almost all the songs!

Definitively agree with you on the Issues part. Tho I like this album better than numbers. It's so anthemic, it gives me goosebumps literally.

I feel like every song is about not giving up, not backing down, and not being wrong. I get it.
