Lights Out
Wolf Peter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lights out ah ha
Blast, blast, blast
Lights out ah ha
Blast, blast, blast
Lights out

[Chorus:]
Dancing in the dark
To the radio of love
Dancing in the dark
To the radio of love

I know that it's wrong
To be dancing with no lights on
And I know that it's wrong
To be holding you for so long
And for the rest of the night
I'll be holding you tight
So tight

[Chorus]

Oh, what can I do
All I need is to dance with you
And turn the lights down some more
We're the only ones left on the floor
Let the music play
I want to hold you this way
Girl, stay

[Chorus]

Sha la la la la
Ooh, holding you girl
Sha la la la la
Oh, baby, please

Lights out ah ha
Blast, blast, blast
Lights out ah ha
Blast, blast, blast
Lights out

(Ah ha)
(Blast, blast, blast)
(Lights out)

[Chorus]

Dance, dance, dance
Radio of love
(Ooh hoo, girl)
(In the dark)
Shine on, love

(Ooh hoo, girl)
(In the dark)

Overall Meaning

The song “Lights Out” by Wolf Peter is essentially a romantic song about dancing with someone you love in the dark, while holding them tight. The song starts with the repetition of “Lights out” and “Blast, blast, blast” which can be interpreted as the sound of the lights being turned off and the music starting. The chorus talks about how the two individuals are dancing in the dark to the “radio of love”. They both know that it’s wrong to dance without the lights on but they can’t resist the temptation to be close to each other.

The second verse focuses on the desire to turn the lights down even more, indicating that they want to create a more intimate setting. They are the only ones left on the dance floor and don’t want the night to end. The use of “Sha la la la la” in the song is common in romantic songs as it adds to the overall emotion and feeling of the song. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, with the addition of “Shine on, love” indicating that their love is shining bright even in the dark.

Overall, “Lights Out” is a simple and romantic song about two people who can’t resist dancing together in the dark. The use of repetition in the chorus and the simple lyrics make the song catchy and easy to sing along to.

Takes me back to a better time, I miss the 80s

@MarkytheCat73

I met him at the Hard Rock Cafe in 1984. I was introduced to the people at his table. He was very nice.

One of the best songs and videos of the 80's. Still sounds great in 2024. #realmusic

I heard this today for the first time in decades in , of all places, a Sam’s Club! This song was out in summer 1984 , my first summer home from college. Lots of driving around in hot humid nights with the car windows open and music blaring. Music was just so fun in the 80s!

How was the 80s?

@lcuco2473

The 80s was such a carefree time. I was a mere freshman in high school and was beginning to learn the way of life as a teenager into a young adult. The 80s music rules, despite I was a youngster, tender enough to remember the music of the 70s, which was nostalgic and the disco era. I grew up to the 80s music and that was the best time I could have asked for the cool hair-raising style haircuts, cool clothes and fashion, and of course the music unsurpassed as one of the all-time best. What I'd do to re-live the 80s again. 😂❤🎉
