Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Lyrics

Recordare Jesu pie,
quod sum causa tuae viae,
ne me perdas illa die.

Quaerens me sedisti lassus,
redemisti crucem passus;
tantus labor non sit cassus.

Juste judex ultionis,
donum fac remissionis ante diem rationis.

Ingemisco tanquam reus,
culpa rubet vultus meus;
supplicanti parce Deus.

Qui Mariam absolvisti,
et latronem exaudisti,
mihi quoque spem dedisti.

Preces meae non sum dignae,
sed tu, bonus, fac benigne,
ne perenni cremer igne.

Inter oves locum praesta,
et ab hoedis me sequestra,
statuens in parte dextra.

I guess I wasn't supposed to be listening to this next to a piano..... They start it out an entire half step flat..

Thomas Stamand

I think its because Mozart modulated to a different key.

My favorite movement of the whole Requiem. Absolutely heavenly. <3

@Enzo Lizardo Yeah. That was what I read. Do you know a video called Mozart Complete Works in Minor keys?

Enzo Lizardo

@Antonio Augusto Mozart only fully orchestrated the introitus, and almost the Kyrie, Dies irae only have the strings and vocal parts by mozart.

Antonio Augusto

@Enzo Lizardo I had read somewhere that Mozart managed to fully orchestrate the very first 2 or 3 parts of this work.

Enzo Lizardo

@Antonio Augusto mozart composed full vocals and bass for this one, but nothing more. Sussmayr could never have reached Mozart's level of expression.

Antonio Augusto

@michel camacho He may have wrote the vocal parts up to recordare, the only parts orchestrated, instrumentally arranged by Mozart are the 2 or 3 initial parts, if I'm not mistaken.

Probably the single most beautiful piece in all of classical music

Beautiful singing! Some of the best I've heard on this piece!
