This is when Mozart invented the idea of Chopin.

Tadeusz Mrównik-Dzikowski This is when Mozart composes in minor key and gets profound and emotional.

@Tadeusz Mrównik-Dzikowski how can a harmony be "indigent"? what makes a motif trivial as opposed to substantial? I thought the point of musical interest is what's done with the motif, not the motives themselves. Mechanical reproduction doesn't at all describe the late works of Mozart; not the operas, nor the concertos, nor the chamber works.

@Tadeusz Mrównik-Dzikowski Oh that is such a harsh assessment regarding what you seem to refer to as his usual other outputs. Sure, this is a superior work to most, but the rest do not deserve such evaluations as "same solutions, indigent harmonies and trivial motives". Aren't you so merciless! LOL

Jason Kim

Aptly put!

Tadeusz Mrównik-Dzikowski

This is when Mozart paid a little bit of attention to what he was composing instead of mechanically reproducing always the same solutions, indigent harmonies and trivial motives...

This rondò = Chopin + Beethoven. Crazy.

Imagine laying on a chaise longue in a silk robe, drinking champagne while some ethereally beautiful man plays this on a glossy black steinway. Carry on.

Thanks for posting. First time hearing this piece. It is astonishing that this is Mozart yet it is perfectly Mozart. Imagine this what it would have sounded like to have him improvising at the keyboard as you stood captivated outside the door. Beautiful.
