sigh

The good news is that compared to the nearly incomprehensible beauty of Mozart's music, none of this means anything.

19:35 On the page it looked nothing, the beginning simple, almost comic, just a pulse; bassoons, bassethorns, like a rusty squeeze box, and then... suddenly, high above it, an oboe, a single note hanging there, unwavering, until the clarinet took it over, sweetened it into a phrase of such delight.

I feel the emotional hearing that note. so much power with classical music

Mike Boylan

But it's not a single note, it's 13 notes before the clarinet joins.

@Bananas Marzipani Who needs to mention that? It's one of the most memorable moments of cinematic history. ;)

Enrique Granados You could mention that this is a quote from the movie „Amadeus“ by Milos Forman from 1984. 😬 Salieri describes Mozart‘s music

"On the page, it looked simple, nothing. The beginning simple, almost comic. Just a pulse. Bassoons, Basset Horns. Like a rusty squeezebox. & then, suddenly, high above it. An Oboe. A single note hanging there unwavering, until a Clarinet took it over. Sweetened it into a phrase of such delight. This was no composition by a performing monkey, this was a music I've never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable. It seemed I was hearing the voice of God. But why? Why would God choose such an obscene child to be his instrument? It's not to be believed. This piece had to be an accident. It had to be. It better be."
- Antonio Salieri

@Stevee GALLO Ahem, I once owned a very imperious rat, who could play the pianoforte (mainly scales in parallel fourths), named Kaiser Wilhelm Weißgrau Großhoden Braunschweig III, but he didn't have your Baden-Württemberg heritage or name-collecting. I mean, this was a rat, not a magpie. He had a fondness for meat pies and woodwind. Well alright, he liked to curl up in a bassoon. Of course, I am merely jealous of your splendid name.

@Stevee GALLO Most curious. We have lost much to history. But your alternative history? Ah, what gentile ironies.
