Winter
Wolfgang Ambros Lyrics

Wie aus′n Bilderbuch
A Winter kalt und klar
Wie aus'n Bilderbuch
A Frühling warm und mild
Wie aus′n Bilderbuch
Und a Sommer heiss und wild
Wie aus'n Bilderbuch
Und voll glücklicher Melancholie
Das Ende aller Jahre
Es war a Jahr wie nie
Es war seither nie wieder so
Es war a grosser Sturm
Und Feuer über'm ganzen Land
Bis in die tiefste Grua′m
Und Aschenregen tagelang
Alles weiss wie Schnee
Ka Sunn mehr, nur mehr schwarze Wolken
Überall, selbst über der Südsee
Und ka Frühling mehr und ka Sommer
Und ka Herbst voll Melancholie
Seither is nur mehr Winter -
A Winter kalt wie nie
ES IS JETZT UNGEFÄHR A JAHR VERGANGEN SEITHER
SO GENAU KANN MA DES NIMMER SAG′N
ES IS IMMER SO DUNKEL UND SO KALT
UND DIE TAGE HAB I LÄNGST AUFGEHÖRT ZU ZÄHLEN
IRGENDWIE BIN I DAMALS DAVON GEKOMMEN
IM GEGENSATZ ZU ALLEN ANDEREN
MEINER FRAU, MEINEM KIND, MEINEN FREUNDEN
I HAB GLÜCK GEHABT
ABER ES WAR EHER EIN FLUCH WIE ICH HEUTE WEISS
ANFANGS HAB I NACH ANDEREN ÜBERLEBENDEN GESUCHT
ABER DIE MEISTEN WAREN SCHWER KRANK
VIELE ERBLINDET, DIE HAUT IN FETZEN
UND DIE HAB'N MA′S ÜBEL GENOMMEN
DASS I NO RELATIV GESUND WAR
UND HAB'N MI VERFOLGT
MITTLERWEILE VERMEID I JEDEN KONTAKT MIT ANDEREN
DENN ES SCHEINT, ALS HÄTTEN DIE MEISTEN MIT IHREN HAAREN
AUCH DEN VERSTAND VERLOREN
ES GIBT VIELE, DIE BRINGEN DI OHNE ZÖGERN UM
FÜR A KAROTTE ODER A DOSE BIER
DIE DU IRGENDWO NOCH GEFUNDEN HAST
ES KOMMEN IMMER NOCH KINDER ZUR WELT
WELT - DES IS KA WELT MEHR, DES IS DIE HÖLLE
DIE MEISTEN STERBEN ZWAR GLEICH WIEDER,
ABER MANCHE LEBEN MIT ZWEI KÖPFEN
MIT OFFENEN BAUCHDECKEN
ALS ZYKLOPEN, ODER TORSOS - SIE SIND UNSERE ERBEN
I MUASS MA FAST TÄGLICH AN NEUEN UNTERSCHLUPF SUCHEN
STÄNDIG AUF DER FLUCHT VOR RATTEN, INSEKTEN
UND NATÜRLICH MEINEN MITMENSCHEN
UND HAB I DANN DOCH AMOI AN PLATZ
WO I FÜR A PAAR STUNDEN RUHE FINDE
DANN NEHM I DIE GITARRE, DIE ALS EINZIGE NOCH BEI MIR IS
UND SPÜ - DES OIDE LIED
Es war amoi a Jahr
Wie aus′n Bilderbuch
A Winter kalt und klar
Wie aus'n Bilderbuch
A Frühling warm und mild
Wie aus′n Bilderbuch
Und a Sommer heiss und wild
Wie aus'n Bilderbuch
Und a Herbst so bunt
Und voll glücklicher Melancholie
Das Ende aller Jahre - es war
A Jahr wie nie, a Jahr wie nie
A Jahr wie nie, a Jahr wie nie
The lyrics describe the passing of a year, starting with a cold and clear winter that was like something out of a picture book. This was followed by a warm and mild spring, a hot and wild summer, and finally a colorful and melancholic autumn. However, something changed after that year. There was a great storm and fire that swept over the entire land, leaving everything covered in ash and darkness. The days grew colder and darker, and the seasons stopped coming. The singer describes fleeing from other survivors, as many have lost their minds and become violent. Despite the bleakness of the situation, the singer finds solace in playing an old song on their guitar.

It has never been like that ever since
Es war a grosser Sturm
There was a great storm
Und Feuer über'm ganzen Land
And fire all over the land

Even into the deepest valleys

ES IS JETZT UNGEFÄHR A JAHR VERGANGEN SEITHER
It's been about a year since then
SO GENAU KANN MA DES NIMMER SAG'N
Can't say exactly

And I've long stopped counting the days
IRGENDWIE BIN I DAMALS DAVON GEKOMMEN
Somehow I made it back then
IM GEGENSATZ ZU ALLEN ANDEREN
Unlike everyone else
MEINER FRAU, MEINEM KIND, MEINEN FREUNDEN
My wife, my child, my friends
I HAB GLÜCK GEHABT
I was lucky
ABER ES WAR EHER EIN FLUCH WIE ICH HEUTE WEISS
But it was more of a curse as I know now
ANFANGS HAB I NACH ANDEREN ÜBERLEBENDEN GESUCHT
At first, I searched for other survivors
ABER DIE MEISTEN WAREN SCHWER KRANK
But most of them were seriously ill
VIELE ERBLINDET, DIE HAUT IN FETZEN
Many were blinded, their skin torn
UND DIE HAB'N MA'S ÜBEL GENOMMEN
And they didn't take it kindly
DASS I NO RELATIV GESUND WAR
That I was relatively healthy
UND HAB'N MI VERFOLGT
And they chased me
MITTLERWEILE VERMEID I JEDEN KONTAKT MIT ANDEREN
Meanwhile, I avoid any contact with others
DENN ES SCHEINT, ALS HÄTTEN DIE MEISTEN MIT IHREN HAAREN
Because it seems that most of them with their hair
AUCH DEN VERSTAND VERLOREN
Have also lost their minds
ES GIBT VIELE, DIE BRINGEN DI OHNE ZÖGERN UM
There are many who kill without hesitation
FÜR A KAROTTE ODER A DOSE BIER
For a carrot or a can of beer
DIE DU IRGENDWO NOCH GEFUNDEN HAST
That you managed to find somewhere
ES KOMMEN IMMER NOCH KINDER ZUR WELT
Children are still being born
WELT - DES IS KA WELT MEHR, DES IS DIE HÖLLE
World - it's not a world anymore, it's hell
DIE MEISTEN STERBEN ZWAR GLEICH WIEDER,
Most of them die right away
ABER MANCHE LEBEN MIT ZWEI KÖPFEN
But some live with two heads
MIT OFFENEN BAUCHDECKEN
With open belly cavities
ALS ZYKLOPEN, ODER TORSOS - SIE SIND UNSERE ERBEN
As cyclops or torsos - they are our heritage
I MUASS MA FAST TÄGLICH AN NEUEN UNTERSCHLUPF SUCHEN
I have to look for a new shelter almost every day
STÄNDIG AUF DER FLUCHT VOR RATTEN, INSEKTEN
Constantly fleeing from rats, insects
UND NATÜRLICH MEINEN MITMENSCHEN
And of course other humans
UND HAB I DANN DOCH AMOI AN PLATZ
And when I finally find a place
WO I FÜR A PAAR STUNDEN RUHE FINDE
Where I can find some peace for a few hours
DANN NEHM I DIE GITARRE, DIE ALS EINZIGE NOCH BEI MIR IS
Then I take the guitar that is the only thing left with me
UND SPÜ - DES OIDE LIED
And I play the old song
Es war amoi a Jahr
Once upon a time there was a year
Wie aus′n Bilderbuch
Straight out of a storybook
A Winter kalt und klar
A winter cold and clear
Und a Frühling warm und mild
And a spring warm and gentle
Und a Sommer heiss und wild
And a summer hot and wild
Und a Herbst so bunt
And an autumn so colorful
Und voll glücklicher Melancholie
Full of happy melancholy
Das Ende aller Jahre - es war
The end of all years - it was
A Jahr wie nie, a Jahr wie nie
A year like no other, a year like no other
