Baroness
Wolfmother Lyrics

She sleeps in a mansion whilst he's sleeping on the grass
Coming out of the darkness with the love for the Baroness
Tonight, tonight, tonight, gonna leave it all behind
Tonight, tonight, could you be my valentine
Tonight, tonight, where the stars are meant to shine
Tonight
Nobody ever sees her, she lives behind closed doors
He has no authority he's the one they all ignore
Coming out of the darkness with the love for the Baroness
Tonight, tonight, tonight, gonna leave it all behind
Tonight, tonight, could you be my valentine
Tonight, tonight, where the stars are meant to shine
Tonight
Don't listen to no one
They never gonna let you out
Don't listen to no one
They never gonna work it out
Work it out
Tonight, tonight, tonight, gonna leave it all behind
Tonight, tonight, could you be my valentine
Tonight, tonight, where the stars are meant to shine
Tonight
The lyrics in Wolfmother's song Baroness depict a tale of two lovers from vastly different lifestyles: one from the peasantry and the other from high society. The Baroness leads a life of luxury and resides within the walls of her mansion while her partner is left to sleep on the grass outside. Despite these obvious differences, the couple's love is the driving force that brings them together, and the lyrics suggest that they are willing to leave everything else behind to embrace their passion for each other.
The lyrics of the song are primarily based around the idea of two people being madly in love, despite their differences in social status. The Baroness is an enigma to everyone around her, and nobody ever sees her. This helps to highlight the vast social divide between the two lovers. Lyrical symbolism is used to create an image of the love shared by the couple as a light coming out of darkness. The love shared by the couple is powerful enough to overcome societal constraints and allow them to dream of leaving it all behind.
Overall, Wolfmother's song Baroness delivers a powerful message about the strength of love and how it can transcend societal limitations. Through simple yet striking lyrics, the song creates an image of two individuals who are ready to throw caution to the wind and fight for their love.
