Dance
Woods of Birnam Lyrics

Colder than the stars
Spiralling up in milky ways
My devotion
Hurts me like a scar
Never healed in endless pain
Dance / dance
Love's a giant
Red and bigger than the sun
An implosion
Fight the Trojan war
You don't mean that much to me
We'll be dancing, riding on that wave,
Particles explode around
We'll be dancing, in the lightning,
We'll be dancing, oooohh
We're an ocean
Colder than the stars
Spiralling up in milky ways
My devotion
Hurts me like a scar
Never healed in endless pain
We'll be dancing, riding on that wave
Particles explode around
We'll be dancing / in the lightning /
We'll be dancing / oooohh
Dance / dance / dance / oooohh
We'll be dancing / in the lightning / oho
We're advancing / we're enlightening / oho
Love's a giant / love's an ocean / oho
We'll be dancing / in the lightning /
We'll be dancing / oooohh
Dance / dance / dance / oooohh
The song “Dance” by Woods of Birnam brings to light the feeling of love with all its complexities. The lyrics of the song establish that love is like an ocean, much colder than the stars and larger than life. The emotions associated with love are intense, and it is like a giant exhausting to the core. The lyrics describe the concept of devotion and how it can leave a scar that never truly heals, causing endless pain. The expression of devotion in love is so powerful that it can spiral up in milky ways, just like the swirls in the galaxy.
The song is a call to dance to the rhythm of life and love, to embrace the pain and the joys that come with it. The lyrics encourage the listener not to lose hope and to keep on dancing on the wave of love, even when it hurts. The line “Fight the Trojan war, You don't mean that much to me” indicates that love is a war that we fight within ourselves, and sometimes others get caught in the crossfire. The song ends on an empowering note to dance in the lightning, to be enlightened and keep dancing to the rhythm of life.
