1) A smooth jazz/sophisti-pop duo from London comprised of Michael McDermott and Chrysta Jones.
2) A hardcore/thrash band from New Zealand.
1) Originally a trio formed of Michael McDermott, Chrysta Jones and Kevin Kehoe in 1986, until Kehoe left the group in 1992, Workshy have been the duo of McDermott and Jones ever since.
McDermott and Kehoe, who was originally from Australia, were neighbors, and the two had once formed a teenage band. Meanwhile, Jones grew up in a family of musicians and joined her father's group, "Metal Ticket" as a vocalist at the age of 11.
McDermott moved from Manchester to London and attended St. Martins where Kehoe was studying Psychology. They started playing music again and formed a soul-funk-latin group called "Garage". That was when they met Jones, and Workshy was born.
In June 1987, they signed to UK-based Magnet Records which was distributed through WEA, and their debut album, The Golden Mile was released in 1989. The album did not attract great attention back home, but it became a hit in Japan. Later albums were only released in Japan. In a sense, they have very much in parallel with Swing Out Sister (also a duo that started out briefly as a trio, and with whom they also share a strikingly similar musical style) whose most loyal fan base for years has been in Japan and other countries in the Far East region.

Bewitched
Workshy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Thought I wouldn't be inclined to waste the day
Dreaming this way
Loving seemed like such a bore
And if I messed it up once more
I'd lock the door
And throw the key away
On a gambler's lucky streak
I was tired of counting sheep at such a pace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Never needed anything
You know it's safe to stay single and free
Independent that's me
You know what turned my heart to stone
That look that left me all alone
And I don't call that liberty
And it might be worth the tears
So you put my mind in gear
Rush in where angels fear to grace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
And it might be worth the tears
So you put my mind in gear
Rush in where angels fear to grace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
Bewitched by your embrace
(Fade out)
In Workshy's "Bewitched", the singer reflects on their past reluctance to love and commit to a relationship, but is now overcome by an irresistible attraction to someone who has "bewitched" them. The first verse suggests that the singer used to view love as a waste of time and a mundane activity, and had grown tired of their own inability to make a relationship work. In contrast, the chorus emphasizes the transformative power of the person's embrace, which has enchanted and captivated the singer to the point of bewitchment.
The second verse is a bit more ambiguous, but it seems to suggest that the singer was content with their independence and didn't see the need for a romantic partner. However, the person's "look" - perhaps a particular gaze or expression - melted the singer's heart and made them realize that they wanted a deeper connection. The bridge repeats the idea that it might be risky to take a chance on love, but also implies that it's worth it.
Overall, "Bewitched" is a song about the sudden and overwhelming power of attraction - how it can transform someone's worldview and make them see the value of a committed relationship, even if they were previously content with being single. The lyrics suggest that love can be an uncertain and potentially painful experience, but it's ultimately worth the risk.
