Freedom
Wynonna Judd Lyrics

A time to love, a time to cry
Every river knows it's own way
And it's the same for you and I
And every heart must have a reason
A winding road, a midnight flight
[Chorus]
Freedom, freedom
What we all need, is freedom in our hearts
Freedom, freedom
What we all need, is freedom in our hearts
We fight and die defending honor
The pride and prejudice we hide
A mother's tears, a father's anger
From trying to stop the pain and lies
So we pretend to look for answers
While I blame you and you blame me
[Chorus]
We don't need the pain anymore
To move our mountains, to reach our shores
What I've found is the choice I bring
What I can do to let freedom ring
[Chorus]
Freedom from the darkness
Freedom from the violence
Freedom from the hate
Freedom from the fear
Freedom from the hunger
Freedom from the forgiveness
Freedom from the past
Freedom from the mistakes
[Chorus: x2]
Tell the people now
Freedom, freedom
What we all need, is freedom in our hearts
Freedom, freedom
What we all need, is freedom in our hearts
In Wynonna Judd's song "Freedom", the lyrics discuss the universal yearning for freedom. The opening lines, "Every dawn becomes a new day, A time to love, a time to cry" establish the passing of time and the emotions felt throughout life. The following line, "Every river knows its own way" suggests that each person has their own path in life that they must navigate, much like a river. The chorus emphasizes the importance of having freedom in one's heart, and the verses emphasize the struggles that often accompany that freedom.
The second verse speaks to the difficult times that people face in life, such as defending their honor and dealing with the pain and lies. The lines "So we pretend to look for answers, While I blame you and you blame me" acknowledge how easy it is to shift blame onto others when things are tough rather than owning up to one's own responsibilities. The third verse is more optimistic and suggests that the struggles of the past, such as pain and mistakes, can be overcome by focusing on the choice to let freedom ring.
Overall, the song emphasizes how crucial it is for individuals to have a sense of freedom in their lives, and the importance of taking responsibility for one's own choices and actions in achieving it.

Freedom from the pain and trouble
Free from all my tears and struggle
Nothin’ standing in my way
I’m bound to find that secret place
Where I can leave my troubled mind
And somehow leave the past behind
There we will proclaim to see
That all we really need is
Freedom...

Yes it is Wynonna Judd. This album was the country artists' take on the movie Prince Of Egypt and in my opinion, it is by far the best soundtrack for the movie.
