When I Reach The Place I'm Goin'
Wynonna Judd Lyrics

I will surely know my way
And I will turn and look inside me
And bid farewell to one more day
Every light begins with darkness
Every flower is once a seed
And with the sun and wind to test us
I will fly beyond this valley
I will open up the gate
And when I reach the place I'm goin'
I will surely know my way
We have hands to hold our sorrow
We have tears to heal the pain
And though your eyes ask many questions
On your lips I hear my name
I was born without a whisper
I was born beneath the rain
But when I reach the place I'm goin'
I will surely know my way
I will surely know my way
Wynonna Judd's When I Reach the Place I'm Going is a song that talks about death and the afterlife. The lyrics suggest that when the singer departs from this world, they will find their way to the place they're going. It's a place of peace, acceptance, and understanding where they can look back on their life and take stock of all their experiences.
The first stanza underscores that the singer knows where they're going and will find their way there. They will also take the time to reflect on their life before they depart. The second verse employs metaphors to state that every good thing needs to go through a process of hardship and struggle before reaching its full potential. The third verse hints that the afterlife is a place of freedom, where one is liberated from the chains of earthly life. The final verse reminds us that life has been challenging for the singer, but they always knew where they were headed.
Wynonna Judd touches on sensitive topics with her poetic lyrics and compelling music. Her deep voice and the rhythm of the song create an atmosphere of introspection and contemplation. The song helps to ease the fear of death by depicting it as a journey to a better place of understanding and acceptance. The slow-paced melody creates a soothing effect and makes it easier to connect with the emotion behind the lyrics.
