Society
X-Odus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You can't walk alone in your life
So think before you use the knife
Move forward shine the light
Be help for others in the night

We can agree on issues like abortion
That this is for sure the worst portion
Woven in society what a distortion
One arm behind our back that's a contortion
Before a wedding makes a bride and groom
An innocent child is placed in the womb Some would say "these cells are doomed"
And seek to turn this gift to a tomb
So with fear in their hearts they drive over to the clinic
Tryna mask it like it's a pandemic
Killin Babies Hitler anti simetic
Fouling our nations morals like septic
Yeah, like septic
Takin these lives and we just turn our head
Go right back to bed
That stuff I read
What the doctor said
It's Irrelevant
Stuck in the room like an elephant
Degenerate
Take an estimate
Maybe it'd be better if I just stay celebrate

You can't walk alone in your life
So think before you use the knife
Move forward shine the light
Be help for others in the night

Childhood is a wonderful thing
A time to be free and to dream your dreams
Telling your mama whatcha wanna be
I'm an astronaut no one gonna stop me
How can we take such a precious gift
We did this and the culture shift
let it go what an immorality
Lemme snap back to reality Yeah really out here killin lil dreamers
Then you wanna say "help save the leamers"?

You can't walk alone in your life
So think before you use the knife
Move forward shine the light
Be help for others in the night

You can't walk alone in your life
So think before you use the knife

Move forward shine the light
Be help for others in the night

Overall Meaning

The song "Society" by X-Odus is a powerful and thought-provoking piece that highlights the importance of being considerate towards others and making positive contributions to society. The opening lines of the song emphasize the fact that we all need support and encouragement from those around us, and that our actions have the potential to impact others in either a positive or negative way.

The song then delves into a particularly controversial issue, abortion, and the negative impact it has on society. X-Odus expresses his opinion that abortion is a distortion of society, and compares it to a contorted body with one arm behind its back. He criticizes the notion of destroying innocent cells that could turn into a child, which is a gift rather than a burden. The artist expresses his disdain for the practice of driving to the clinic to have an abortion, and vilifies it as a heinous act that corrupts society's morals.

The chorus of the song urges listeners to think twice before taking any drastic action and to be mindful of their impact on others. It emphasizes the importance of being a beacon of hope and support for others during difficult times.

You are purposely attempting to cause more division between AAs, Continental Africans, and the African Diaspora.

What she actually said in her video is that she wouldn’t EMPLOY any more African Americans, because of the issues she had with 6 guests. She never said that AAs couldn’t stay there anymore. She just said from now on she will only employ Tanzanian people.

Also, u pulled up the wrong video w/Go Black. Go Black actually filmed another woman while he was at an Xodus House Event, in front of a painting at the Xodus House. It seems he purposely never mentioned where he was or that there was even an Xodus House event going on while he filmed.

So the question is……are u purposely putting out wrong info? Or, are u just too lazy to get the facts right before putting out a video? Either way, your credibility in reporting is questionable.

Please stop capitalizing off of the opportunity to create and highlight division with the African Diaspora.
You come across like someone is paying you to do it (both you and GoBlack seem to have a price). SMH

I wonder if she was disgusted by those African American contributions/donations 🧐

TUN AFRICA

Probably not

Psychological Observer

You know what? I believe her. People can be conditioned by the behaviors that they observe. If you have a certain type of people who are going over there, to the point that Tanzanians are complaining about them, and now you see other diasporans drawing a boundary, I don't think it's feasible to invalidate her experiences as a "mental health" issue. That woman swindled her out of 900 dollars. She's a single mother living in a foreign country. How would you feel if someone swindled you, after you went out of your way to give them money?

Felicity Powers

The thing is, she appeals to many of us Single Mothers and many of us Single Mothers have more than ONE CHILD, yet we are sending monies to donate to the cause, only to be treated like crap. We donate AND pay full price for our stay at the property AND still support while staying there. 'Those Who Knows It, Feels It!!'

Thank you for yet another great analysis!

I came to Tanzania alone and was prepared to deal only with locals. I came expecting to learn and to make a few mistakes along the way.

There is no YouTube channel that has come close to my experience so please people, do your “due diligence” before you move abroad and take off your rose-colored glasses. 🙏🏾

Same here. I'm an AA who came by himself. It's been a total of 8 months now. Looking at YouTubers, I can hardly relate. Based on their videos, we move differently... But I don't know them. I would recommend not looking at too many videos before coming out and be comfortable with native Tanzanians first before connecting with other diasporans.

A key difference is I am 22/23 so the older generations really takes me under their wing. That greatly has alters my experience.

Always Well

I appreciate you not generalizing the entire AA community as a whole in your video. As an AA I was excited about the exodus of repats, as well as concerned how AA’s would conduct themselves on the continent. Unfortunately some do not know how to prepare or humble themselves before making such a life changing decision, that also effects the locals. Repatriating is not for everyone, her included. I hope she’s able to figure out what ever her real issues are. I’m sure her initial intentions were genuine in the beginning, it’s my hope she’s able to get back to that place again .
