"what's that on your shoulder?" "what?" "that on your shoulder?" "that's my head!" "uh, is that the root of all your problems?" "no." "then what is your problem?" "what? well i wouldn't say i've got what you call a chip on my shoulder, there's just some people that i can't get along with. i mean i've tried...and then i've really tried." "yeah!" "and it never seems to work out, honey!" "well, what are we going to say to these people?" "there's a big, ugly city out there!" "you wanna see it?" "yeah i wanna see it!" "well then look through my eyes and you can see it!" what's wrong with me?... what's wrong with me? it ain't none of you god-damned business!

Overall Meaning

In "What's Wrong with Me," X humorously lists off various cities and the people he's encountered there, all while questioning what could be wrong with himself. The lyrics suggest that X has had negative experiences in all of these places and with various types of people, which has led him to question his own flaws. He admits that he can't get along with certain people and has tried to resolve these issues but to no avail.

The repetitive questioning of "what's wrong with me?" is likely a reflection of X's own insecurity and self-doubt. By listing off all the different places and people he's encountered, he is perhaps trying to convince himself that his problems are not unique to him alone, and that others have also had negative experiences in different parts of the world.

The conversation towards the end of the song, in which X talks about seeing the world through someone else's eyes, can be interpreted as a call for empathy and understanding. Although X may have had negative experiences with certain types of people, he acknowledges that there is a bigger world out there worth exploring and understanding.
