Falling Down
XDisciplex A.D. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to XDisciplex A.D.'s song "Falling Down" depict a sense of anger and frustration towards the societal pressure to conform to certain standards or beliefs. The first line of "hate what you don't understand" speaks to the idea that people often fear and attack what they don't comprehend or are unfamiliar with. The next line, "follow in cain's path," alludes to the biblical story of Cain and Abel, where Cain murders his brother out of jealousy and then tries to hide from God. This line suggests that those who follow in Cain's path are similarly motivated by envy and a desire to avoid judgment or punishment.
The chorus of the song is particularly poignant, with the repeated phrase "falling down and staying down," which paints a picture of defeat and despair. The line "you've learned to love your filth" is a straightforward condemnation of those who revel in their own immoral behavior, and the line "it's not kill or be killed, it's stand or fall" suggests that in the face of adversity, some may resort to violent or aggressive tactics in order to survive. Despite all this, the final line of the song, "I am His child and I am not afraid," conveys a strong sense of hope and faith, reminding listeners that they are not alone and can rely on their belief in a higher power to guide them through difficult times.
