At the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul Xandee sang the dance uptempo song "1 Life" in the contest. The song was one of the major favourites before the contest, but only got 7 points, 5 of which from neighbouring country The Netherlands, on the final evening. It eventually got only 22nd place out of 24 participants. "Doing a Xandee" has since become a popular phrase used by Eurovision fans to describe a hyped or pre-contest favourite participant only for them to have reached a low position.
Interestingly, Xandee's fate was repeated two years later, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, where fellow Belgian entry Kate Ryan, despite being a hugely-hyped favourite, failed to qualify from the Semi-Final.

You can turn my world around
I can hear, what people say
It doesn't matter anyway
We're not the same but, so much alike
You are my brother, my sister tonight
We've got...
One life, living together
In one life, let us be free
One life, you take my troubles away
Light up my day
You came here, in the night
Took the worries off your mind
In your eyes, beneath your skin
I feel the pain you're in
We're not the same but, so much alike
You are my brother, my sister tonight
We've got...
One life, living together
In one life, let us be free
One life, you take my troubles away
Light up my day
One life, living together
In one life, let us be free
One life, you take my troubles away
Light up my day
The song "One Life" by Xandee expresses the idea of living in harmony with one another, despite our differences. The opening lines explain how someone can uplift and change another's world, and that regardless of what people say, it shouldn't affect us. The chorus speaks about how we all have our individual lives, but we can also live together in unity, and be free from our troubles together. The second verse focuses on how we are all human and may face struggles, but we can still empathize and understand each other's pain. The overall message of the song is to celebrate our differences and embrace living together as one.

The beat in this is probably the best one ever heard on Eurovision. Here I am now in 2021 having a flashback!

Belgium is the most underrated country in ESC, Kate Ryan had by far the best song, vocals and didn’t qualify. Xandee was better than the winner and should have been in the top 3. Blanche and Loic Nottet were winner’s material.

One of the most mysterious flops in Eurovision history. The song is amazing, the voice sounds good, the performance is decent for 2004 standards... no idea why it was so low

Not the best vocals?
