It's Over
Xavier Naidoo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I thought that love would last forever
I was wrong, so wrong
My sun, my fun my everlasting oscillation
I gave love to you like nobody else ever will
I was right
I really loved you and admit it's over
My energy, my sanity, my never-ending mystery
You turn your face away, afraid to speak,
Afraid to say
I loved you, I really loved you
Really loved you and I admit it's over
I loved you, yes I really do
Yes, I love you and I admit it's over
The song "It's Over" by Xavier Naidoo explores the theme of love and loss. The singer in the song is addressing a former lover, who was once the center of everything in their life. The opening lines, "My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song," suggest that the person was the singer's entire world, and the source of all their joy and inspiration.
However, the relationship has now ended, and the singer admits that they were wrong to think that their love would last forever. They now realize that their former lover was not the right person for them, and the relationship has come to an end. The song is a poignant reflection on the pain of heartbreak, and the difficult process of accepting that a relationship is truly over.
Throughout the song, the singer expresses their deep feelings of love towards their former partner, even as they acknowledge that the relationship has ended. The lines "I gave love to you like nobody else ever will / I was right / I loved you, really loved you" capture the intensity and sincerity of their emotions. Ultimately, however, the singer knows that they must move on, and they admit that "it's over."
