+Сергей Каменецкий Thanks, it was an experiment as well, I wanted to control the right hand guitar Wah Wah with my foot pedal so after a lot of head scratching I worked out how to do it. Although the backing style has a Wah Wah guitar in that is fixed to the amp emulator and sound, the right hand one is controlled by my foot so I can have it fast or slow, or anything I want - it seemed to work out OK and I love playing the Wah Wah guitar this way - Kev

Hi - Thanks for listening - it's all done on the S970 as a single track/take - I don't use multi track or MIDI and try to play live as I would have done many years ago in the clubs - all the instruments are native to the S970 in this song although I altered the Wah guitar DSP so I could control the Wah using the FC7 foot pedal - I always try to save the registrations if anyone wants to load them, there's normally a link to the registration folder in my descriptions - Kev

Thanks Sohrab, glad you enjoyed it - The chord sequence is quite simple Am7, D and C for the chorus, Am and D for the melody, it's in the key of C - Unfortunately I don't do tutorials - I have many bad habits and I like to sit down play and move onto the next song. I used to play as a backing organist many years ago and quit 32 years ago for a career in computing. I just play how I feel, use the music as a rough guide and play in and out of the tune a bit. I hope you enjoy some of the other songs I've played and I appreciate you taking time to listen and comment - Kev

The music on the stand says Le Freak, the melody I'm playing is Le Freak - I am playing in and out the melody though and improvising as I would have done on stage otherwise it's just a repetitive melody typical of the Disco era - Kev

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your reply. Appreciate the response. I have no criticism against your playing - it's very good. I think the point I was trying to make, was that despite the sheet music saying 'Le Freak', the backing music isn't at all representative of the actual song. No iconic Nile riff, for one thing. Different bpm too. If you played the original track minus vocals, people would instantly know what it was. With this, not so much. Nice improv though :)

I think though your comments apply to everyone who plays a song without following it 100%, so this will apply to the 350+ other songs I've played on YouTube and ones I played on stage in the past as well - I could have used a dedicated style, I've yet to find one that's worth using, and I don't like being constrained into one - whatever bass and instruments are on the 70sDiscoFunk style are what they are. I accept you doing some in depth analysis to show me you're an SME but in reverse I don't and won't play like that - there's no fun in a clinical reproduction of a song - I'll become a robot. I sit down, open a book then normally record a song in 5 or 10 minutes and move on, I might change the BPM, I'll certainly use a style which isn't identical to the original, I'll use instruments that are different and I'll wander away from the melody - pretty much what I would expect every other musician to do - it's one reason I don't multi track or use Midi either - most people who do that are trying too hard to copy the original - any original song needs to remain that otherwise everything dilutes into repetitive monotonous mimicry, and that's one reason I left the music business 33 years ago in the first place - Kev

I do appreciate your reply, Kev. As I said, there's no criticism aimed at your keyboard skills. I think my comments stem from my style of arranging. I guess you'd consider me one of the "robots". So, when I click on something which says 'Le Freak', I'm personally hoping to hear something more authentic. But more power to you, for doing something different. One question though. What is an SME?

SME is Subject Matter Expert. As for this song, you clicked dislike and I'm fine with that and you need to move on - this is a song I perhaps spent 10 minutes playing in 2015 and I doubt I've played it since. I'll be sure to have a listen though if you post your arrangement on YT - Kev
