The original members of Y&T were Dave Meniketti (lead vocals and lead guitar), Leonard Haze (drums), Phil Kennemore (bass), and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar). Haze was replaced by Jimmy DeGrasso in 1986. Alves was replaced by Stef Burns in 1989. The band officially disbanded in 1991, although they continued to perform sporadically. They officially reunited in 2001 with a lineup of Meniketti, Kennemore, and Burns alongside Leonard Haze. Burns eventually went on to join the pop rock outfit Huey Lewis & The News and was replaced by John Nymann. Nymann was an old friend of the band who had sung backup for the group before. In 2006, Haze was asked to step down, and he was replaced by Mike Vanderhule.
The band's signature hits include "Summertime Girls", a Van Halen like piece of cheeky arena rock that reached #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985, and ""Mean Streak." That latter track hiked up to #25 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart due to its aggressive, heavy style. Y&T's 1984 album, 'In Rock We Trust', has been their highest selling release, reaching #46 on the Billboard Album Charts and selling over 450,000 copies; the spirited album came very close to Gold status.

Dirty Girl
Y&T Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When I see you from behind
Black stockings and those sexy legs
It's drivin' me wild
Body heat gives me a thrill
Got a look that says you will
I turn around, let me check it out
Dirty girl, hot on your tail
Oh girl, you wear me out
Dirty girl, oh, what you got
If you give it I can take it all night
Oh baby, I like the way you move
Let me lay you down in the groove
Heat me up with your bowl of fire
So easy to please
You got my knees shakin'
You got my seams breakin'
Don't go and let me down
I got what you need
Dirty girl, hot on your tail
Oh girl, you wear me out
Dirty girl, oh, what you got
If you give me I can take it all night
Dirty girl, hot on your tail
Oh girl, you wear me out
Dirty girl, oh, what you got
If you give me I can take it all night
I can take it all night
Dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty girl
Only you got, only you got
Oh, you got what I want
You got what I need, oh so good
Will you take it all night
If I give it, if I give it to you?
Can you take it all night?
Oh you're so hot, oh you're so hot
Dirty, dirty girl
Oh, you got what I want
You know you got what I need
The lyrics of Y&T's song "Dirty Girl" describe a man's intense attraction to a woman he sees from behind. He fixates on her appearance, particularly her black stockings and legs, and feels a strong physical response. He longs for her to give him a sign that she is interested, and imagines being with her all night. He describes her body as a "bowl of fire" that heats him up, and notes that he is willing to do whatever it takes to be with her.
The song has a strong sexual undertone and celebrates the intense physical attraction between the man and the woman. The lyrics suggest that the woman is confident in her sexuality and enjoys being pursued by the man. The song is upbeat and energetic, with a catchy chorus that emphasizes the repeated phrase "dirty girl."
Overall, the lyrics of "Dirty Girl" are a tribute to physical attraction and desire. They celebrate the thrill of the chase and the excitement of being with someone who drives you wild.

I remember “smoking on matters” with Lenny at a party they played at when they were just starting to gain some traction. Kind of tragic how Dave Meniketti’s talents aren’t more widely appreciated. A lot of awesome songs that really rock in their catalog...

When I was a teenager, I used to swim at this Public pool literally around the corner from Dave's house in Santa Clara back in the '80s. It was a big thrill for me and my buddies to try to listen to Y&T jamming ( yeah right ! lol ) in the garage as we rode our bikes home from the pool in the summer :)
