The original members of Y&T were Dave Meniketti (lead vocals and lead guitar), Leonard Haze (drums), Phil Kennemore (bass), and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar). Haze was replaced by Jimmy DeGrasso in 1986. Alves was replaced by Stef Burns in 1989. The band officially disbanded in 1991, although they continued to perform sporadically. They officially reunited in 2001 with a lineup of Meniketti, Kennemore, and Burns alongside Leonard Haze. Burns eventually went on to join the pop rock outfit Huey Lewis & The News and was replaced by John Nymann. Nymann was an old friend of the band who had sung backup for the group before. In 2006, Haze was asked to step down, and he was replaced by Mike Vanderhule.
The band's signature hits include "Summertime Girls", a Van Halen like piece of cheeky arena rock that reached #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985, and ""Mean Streak." That latter track hiked up to #25 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart due to its aggressive, heavy style. Y&T's 1984 album, 'In Rock We Trust', has been their highest selling release, reaching #46 on the Billboard Album Charts and selling over 450,000 copies; the spirited album came very close to Gold status.

I Believe In You
Y&T Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You showed me always that
you'd be right there
with the love we shared,
and the times we had
were like a dream baby they were never bad- oh no
but how I felt has changed with time,
and you know my life has ceased to shine,
I believe in you, believe in you baby
I believe in you, I believe in you
All I want to say to you
I believe in you, I believe in you
The way you are, I love you for,
I only wish that I had only gave you more
so much more
And after all that we've been through
so much baby
I still see myself right here with you
Oh yeah
I believe in you, believe in you baby
I believe in you, I believe in you
All I want to say to you
I believe in you, I believe in you
Your phony friends, they all counsel you
the things they say-oh baby
you know aren't true, know aren't true
cause even though I've been away
for such a long time
Just remember baby, you remember baby
when you here me say I'm telling you
yes
I believe in you, believe in you baby
I believe in you, I believe in you
All I want to say to you
I believe in you, I believe in you
I believe in you, believe in you baby
I believe in you, I believe in you
All I want to say to you
I believe in you, I believe in you
The lyrics of Y&T's "I Believe In You" convey the story of a man who is struggling to cope with the passage of time and changes in his life. The song starts with the singer acknowledging how his lover had come to him and shown him love, with the assurance that she would always be there for him. The memories of their happy times together felt like a dream and were never bad, but now he feels that his life has ceased to shine, and his feelings have changed with time. Yet, despite this, he still believes in her and their love.
The chorus repeats the message of his belief in her, and his desire to tell her that. He laments that he didn't give her enough, but he still loves her for the way she is. He acknowledges that people may have been filling her head with doubts, but urges her to remember that he believes in her.
Overall, the song speaks to the feeling of nostalgia for a past love, the difficulties of accepting change and the challenge of making sense of it all. It highlights having faith in the people we cherish and holding on to hope in difficult times.

I will never get over the vibrato in the first solo. It’s so smooth and consistent. He can do it for so long too. It’s incredible. Dave is an awesome musician.

Esta canción deberia de tener millones de reproducciones, es uno de los tesoros mejor guardados que existen. Yo la descubrí en los 90s y desde entonces es parte de mis borracheras. Saludos desde GDL Mex
