I could see this is a liveaboard if I was super into fishing and was willing to trade some interior space to accommodate it. I like the removable panels on the fly bridge, and the arrangement of the head and shower is pretty smart.

Years ago, drivers, especially sports car drivers used gloves to get a better grip on the wheel when driving especially on twisting roads! Many steering wheels yrs ago were not wrapped as they are now. The surface on the old wheels would be slippery especially in warm weather! Your usual great job! No pressure but waiting for episode 5 of Nautiguys!😂

As you stated this would be a great comfortable way for a single or a couple to live aboard.
The only knowledge which was not mentioned is the range of distance on full fuel.
I'm starting to look into a live aboard vessel back in Florida, tragically on November 15, my 30 foot motorhome
caught fire from a heater unit, destroying the motorhome and in horror taking the lives of my 4 dogs, I tried saving them but could not get through the smoke and flames. In less than10 minutes time it was engulfed in flames.
I am grateful for all your videos and constant sharing of knowledge, and ask that you (Victoria and Rico) speak of how very important fire suppression systems are as well as fire extinguishers always within reach.

I used to wear lightweight leather gloves in Florida during the summer when driving. Now that I'm back in Michigan it's insulated gloves for 9 months of the year. Very nice live-aboard that could also do the Loop, and it wouldn't take a huge Jack-pot win to own!

@NautiStyles These were essentially golf gloves, just enough to protect the palm and fingers from roasting on the steering wheel. Just a single layer of thin leather. Not like today, 2 layers of INSULATED gloves, boots, a flannel shirt, insulated jeans and a down filled long coat over long underwear. Our high temperature was 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

Great video! We’ve had 2 of these 42 Silverton over the years. One correction on your video: The tanks on the outboard sides of both port & starboard engines are water tanks, 100/each totaling 200 gallons. The fuel tanks are under the cockpit sole accessible under the cockpit hatch if you were to pull out the insert “fish box”. Twin tanks give a total of 524 gallons. With the 480hp Volvo’s we got around .75 MPG & with the 430hp Cummins about .9 MPG. The Volvos cruised faster, but used more fuel.

For the price I was expecting to find gas Mercruisers in the engine room, but nope, she has diesel engines. This boat will pay its own way if you use it for fishing charters, plus you will still have plenty of boat time for yourself. This is perhaps the best value opportunity I have ever seen.

In the original cars there was NO power steering, manual shifting, and a metal steering wheel. Gloves gave you a grip on the wheel for leverage, protection from blistering, and thermal protection from cold or hot steering wheels/shifters.

If I remember from my dads old truck the heating and climate control wasn't that good either, I could confirm this when I bought a Jeep and I needed to wear gloves because the heater was basically a glorified fan.

Ordinarily not a fan of sport fishers, however that aside s very practical boat, agree about the shower and the head being somewhat unique. A great boat for enjoying the weather in Florida, not sure how it would work in the UK (what with all the sun we get) lol. But for a couple the layout is excellent and the price is a steal.

Steering wheels used to be non-padded and made from bare wood, steel, or a combination. Most cars in the early 1900's were convertible/opentop, so you can imagine the steering wheels were very hot/cold depending on the weather. Steering was also not power-assisted. Gloves, usually made from soft kid(young goat leather...hence the term "kid gloves"), prevented burns/cold, splinters, and calluses.

My father-in-law preferred to wear gloves while driving, not because of the cold, but because he had a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and without gloves the oils and acids from his hands would (over time) degrade and discolor the leather.

I use driving gloves when I'm in the desert off-roading with my Jeep. It keeps my palms from chafing, which is surprisingly a big deal. At the end of the day my hands don't hurt, and that's huge.

Bridge Clearance/ Air Draft: Does the 16' 8" figure include the radar dome/ bubble?
Most antennas are easily pivoted to reduce overall height temporarily, but unsure if other elements are included in those numbers or if that was measured before being outfitted...
Is that readily removed/ disconnected, if not in the measurement??

I think gloves were used in the early days of cars because (1) there was no power steering, so slow-motion turns (like when parking) could require huge effort on the steering wheel and (2) early cars were often open-top or no-heat vehicles, so gloves were required to keep the hands from freezing in the cold breeze. Obviously, power steering and hardtops with internal heating solved those problems.

I bought an 84' 633 bmw and in the glove box was a pair of driving gloves. I had them washed and used them all the time. Felt like a pro every time
